GOP congressional candidate Stephen Broden says violent overthrow of government is 'on the table'

WASHINGTON – Republican congressional candidate Stephen Broden stunned his party Thursday, saying he would not rule out violent overthrow of the government if elections did not produce a change in leadership.

Broden, a South Dallas pastor, said a violent uprising "is not the first option," but it is "on the table." That drew a quick denunciation from the head of the Dallas County GOP, who called the remarks "inappropriate."

Broden, a first-time candidate, is challenging veteran incumbent Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson in Dallas' heavily Democratic 30th Congressional District. Johnson's campaign declined to comment on Broden.

Jonathan Neerman, head of the Dallas County Republican Party, said ... "it is a disappointing, isolated incident." ... He said he plans to discuss the matter with Broden's campaign.

As to why I said it, you accused a candidate of being corrupt, if you have evidence that that is so, or you believe that it is so, the proper procedure is to indite the candidate on charges of fraud - it's been done before and it can be done again. If you don't bother, you only have yourself to blame, so put up or shut up. Simply not agreeing with the policies of properly elected officials is not enough to accuse them of anything.
