CR1 - Biometrics after entry

Hi All,

I'm hoping this is the right place to post. If not, can you please recommend where else to post?

My husband entered US a month ago on a CR1.

In under two weeks we had applied for and received his social security number and card.

We've also applied for and received his state photo identification card.

We've not yet received his green card & today we received an appointment letter from the USCIS for a

Biometrics appointment.

Is this normal? I didn't realize he'd have to do Biometrics again after entry?

Any insight?

Thank You

I am hearing it for the first time.

I think, his fingerprints taken at the Consulate or POE may not have been proper. So, local office wants to take it again for the GC production.

I don't recall reading of a similar situation before either but I suspect, as Loto posted, that the prints they took at POE may not have been usable so they need to redo them. Let us know how things work out.

Good luck!

Thanks. I'm assuming the same thing. I was there at POE and they had to do some of the prints several times before the computer accepted them. Just hoping it's not a bad sign, or any problem/mistake that will cause delays.

Thanks for the responses.

Today's a month that he's been here & no green card yet. At POE, the officer said it'd be here in 6-8 weeks. Any insight as to whether the biometrics appt. will interfere with getting the gc?

Hi msheesha, I just received this notice to capture biometrics approx 1 month after entering the US with CR-1. Sad news is that I left the US to finish off some personal matters, and the appointment is next week which is stressing me out.

Could you please let me know why this is required and how did it go with you?

I'd appreciate your help since this is not common and I cannot find useful info about it.
