My wife will be arriving at Detroit Wayne Airport on October 27, She has another Flight to my city after immigration. When her plane lands she has to go to baggage claim get suitcases and recheck them at DELTA desk. My Question is ... will she go to baggage claim to recheck suitcases before immigration process or must she go thru immigration process first. ??? ... I cannot travel with her or meet her at Detroit as I have surgery on my spine on the 21 st. and will be bedridden for a few weeks, i planned surgery cuz we did not expect her visa to come so quickly, just filed ds-230 and I-864 on June 29 and she received visa on September 15. Can someone be helpful in giving me detailed insstructions on The process at Detroit airport of immigration and baggage recheck please ... Thank You and God Bless !!!

The process is also STANDARD for international Travels entering the USA.

1. Deplane

2. Enter Passport Conrtol / Immigration

3. Go to Secondary to complete the paper work.. fingerprints etc.

4. Go to Baggage Claim to pick up luggage/s

5. Go to Customs to Declare Any Goods

6. Go to Delta to drop off bags

7. Go towards connecting flight/s

ps. in some airports travellers are required to go back through security screening prior to going to the gate... like in Miami.

wow... the busiest airport in the USA - Atlanta (ATL) donest require one to go back through security from what I recall.

I flew into charlotte (CLT) like back in 1996-9 from Montego Bay and we didnt have to go thru security again too.. it's annoying ...because we would have to put like any liquid in out suitcases that we bought duty-free.. and worst thing is.. there's always one that doesnt make it (broken).
