Has anyone had an RFE prior to their biometrics appointment? I'm just wondering if USCIS ever starts reviewing the file before biometrics has been done.

N-400 Citizenship

Sept. 13, 2011 N-400 sent to Phoenix Lockbox

Sept. 20, 2011 Check cashed

Sept. 23, 2011 NOA rec'd for N-400

Oct. 17, 2011 Biometrics appointment

Nov. 29, 2011 Interview - PASSED! 3yr anniversary not until 12/09/11

Dec. 13, 2011 Status update received "Oath Scheduled"

Dec. 15, 2011 Letter received with Oath date

Dec. 27, 2011 OATH! US Citizen

no, because they want to "touch" the file only once... and if they review it before biometrics, they automatically touch it at least one more time than they want to

I imagine they don't do much with the files until after the results of the biometrics have come in since those will trigger any major red flag (criminal history) once that's cleared away it's just a matter of looking at the evidence supplied and making a decision. Based on what a former adjudicator posted here some years ago that each file is only handled maybe 15-20 minutes through this whole process even those it takes months on our end to see movement. :yes:

NATURALIZATION
07-03-2013: Eligible to file
07-22-2013: Application sent (Delivered: 07-24-13)
08-05-2013: NOA1 received (Priority date: 07-24-13, Check cashed: 07-29-13)
08-22-2013: Biometrics (Received: 08-06-13, Walk-in: 08-08-13)
09-03-2013: Inline for interview (Yellow letter received: 10-23-13)
11-04-2013: Interview scheduled (Received: 11-09-13)
12-12-2013: Interview (Approved)
01-03-2014: Oath ceremony, passport application and passport received

DONE!
