Maybe India wants some Russian planes, so they can disguise them as something else, confuse the enemy ? Other than that, I'm just stumped as to 'why' to have them.

The Indian AF has flown Russian kit for a long time, now.

Their fronline fighter right now is the Sukhoi Su-30MKI, which is top-rate kit. Problem is, after they went to Red Flag last year, it became evident they weren't that good at using them. :innocent:
