Police Certificate

Hi,

Does anyone know how long the police certificate is valid for? I order mine a few months back - being a little optimistic about the speed of our NOA2 and now by the time I get interview I am sure it will be over a 6 month period since it being issued. Will this then be out of date?

Thanks

Lucy

ok to make sure i wasnt posting false information (which i believed to be correct) i went to the website where i obtained my form from and read through the FAQ for you

How long is my Police Certificate valid for?

there is no set period of time for which the Police Cerificate is considered to be valid. The Police Certificate is only truly accurate on the date of issue. Embassies or High Commissions will usually require you to produce a Police Certificate, which has been issued less than six months before your visa interview

" Please note that the Immigrant Visa Unit considers the police certificate valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, not six months as stated on the certificate." (http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html)

  • 1 month later...

My husband mailed me his police certificate (which in Paraguay is titled "certificate of antecedents). It has his name, his identity card number, his birthdate, his nationality and a line stating that he has no prior antecedents.

Does this sound like it should be good enough?

thanks

** moved from "K1 Process & Procedures" to "US Embassy & Consulate" as this is regarding the police certificate which for a K-1 is a Consulate issue **

YMMV
