Interview appointment date change

Hey all, we received our interview letter last week in the mail but my wife is out of the country (with her AP papers which others have gave me great advice about in my other topics) and she won't return until December. I need to call the USCIS and reschedule her appointment but I can't seem to find any options in the automated service to talk to a Customer Rep or to change the date.

Anyone know any tricks to get through?

Doesn't it give you the "how to" in the appointment letter? I thought that I saw that, but it's been a while.

No, it only says If you cannot make your appointment, contact us immediately at 1 800 etc

Yes, the reason she went there in first place, her mom's surgery

I was able to get through just now, I guess you have to "report a problem" with your documents in order to change your interview date..

I would strongly recommend that you follow up that appointment change with an info pass (maybe wait until the updated appointment letter shows up?). Bring documentation of the surgery and her itinerary to show when she will return. If I could place bets, I would bet that they reschedule her for a second date which is ALSO before she returns, Further, I would recommend that you keep the original appointment, even if you go alone, because it wouldn't be the first time something didn't get changed in "the system" and they auto-deny the AOS when the interview date passes and no interview occurs.

I concur. You need to be very careful if you are looking to reschedule the interview date. Follow up, follow up, that's the key. Whenever you receive a confirmation letter stating that they have received your rescheduling request, go to your local office on an infopass appointment and make sure everybody's on the same page with you. Otherwise, your AOS could be denied - read here about a similar situation that happened recently:

I see, I never thought about doing that, thank you very much for the info, I have received the confirmation letter saying they have put in a request for a interview date change, I'll have to follow up
