How is it a distortion? The law allowed for the police to question people solely on the suspicion that they are illegal, well, at least it did until the courts placed a stay on that provision. With sheriff's like Joe Arcaipo directing officers to check the status of suspected illegal immigrants, you know the implications of that.

Rob, it was a distortion because that part of the proposed law was amended, yet you refer to it as if it still remains. It doesn't and you know that, yet you persist in misrepresenting the facts.

The courts didn't place a stay on that provision, either. The Bill was amended, so that law enforcement can only check the status of people when they are performing a legal stop.

Stating that the police are allowed to check the status of someone "solely on the suspicion that they are illegal" is fearmongering and a blatant distortion of the facts.

anyone got stats for Texas ? it's been some time, surely there are stats, nowish ?
