"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

The religous disparity is incidental. The nobel prize committee has been accused many times (and acknowleged occasionally) of a geographic and political bias.

There is no surprise that an organization that has admitted to having a Eurocentric bias has given more awards to people in western countries.

Comparison of Arab and Jewish Nobel Prize Winners

This topic isn't about Arab or Jewish, its about science/facts mentioned in the Quran.

Here is a list of Muslim scientists : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Muslim_scientists

Funny how the religion of war and poverty is the word of Allah. I watched these videos and all of the scientists come from Christian and Jewish backgrounds. Surely Mohamed would have enlighten his own to have figured this out, rather than the very same infidels the Qur'an says to kill and at any cost. When was the last time someone saw Al Sharouk or Mahmoud in any science book? Strange since the Qur'an apparently predicted all of this.

I've seen people totally discredit versus straight out of the Qur'an clearly stating kill the infidels (Christians, Buddhist, Hindus or atheist) and directly the Jews, downplayed by the foolish followers. Yet boy does a sentence of extremely generic wording apparently equate to science predictions.

For example:

"the mountains will move" Response: 'OMFG that is plate tectonics'.

"Kill the J-ws, even when they are hiding" Response: 'it's just generic and you misquoted it'.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Is that so? Then I guess you wouldn't mind giving us a list of Nobel-worthy achievements

by Arab/Islamic scientists, doctors and writers that were overlooked by the Nobel prize committee?

Take your time, honey.

Nobel worthy? Please! You mean like Obama's nobel peace prize? Well I took a ####### today, that might be worth one. Their standards of achievment don't seem to be that high lately.

Look, if we didn't call the region the middle east, I'm not sure the average American could find it on a map. And my point is the nobel prize committee, by their own admission, doesn't seem to be all that interested either. And that's my only point.

As far as Arab acomplishments, I don't know and I'm not making any claims for or against. I'm sure there are many. I don't have the time to find out and I'm not going to post half assed factoids from google or wikipedia. Your response would be of the straw man variety anyway.

Not less intelligent. All groups of people are more or less equal to start off with. It's the culture that makes some civilizations successful and others not so much. That's the point. Islam is leading to a oppressive and unadvanced culture where creativity is suppressed and human rights are ignored. If Arabs were less intelligent, that would be one thing. The point is that in the beginning they are just as intelligent but Islam is stopping them from succeeding. Unless you believe that they are biologically less intelligent there really isn't another explanation.

Oh no? 'Splain me please about other nations that fail to rank in the "success" department, but don't adhere to Islam. There most certainly are other explanations, chief among them poverty and lack of access.

I think theocracies can suck it. But I have way bigger fish to fry in terms of hunger, abject poverty, and educational resources when it comes to explaining failure to excel. The impulse to run to Islam as the culprit is a willful failure of objective investigation, in my opinion.

Did you guys miss the title and the video in the OP? 10cm by 10cm window, not that hard to miss.

Nice of you to mention straw man arguments Dakin, considering this is not about Arabs. The comments were in relation to Islam apparently being the religion of science. Had this been the case, surely Islamic countries would be the epicenter of progress and development. Rather than the birth place of a large number of immigrants to western countries.

I didn't bring up arabs, Hecraoleos. I responded to a poster who used the term "arab/islamic" and then replied to the poster who reponded to me with the same term. Islam is a religious designation, arab is not. Regardless of the original topic, The nobel prize committee has not admitted to having religious bias, just a geographic one.

I had no reponse to the validity of the original topic. Religion is dogmatic, science is not. The prosperity of any religion has historically been at the detriment of science. It's not unique to a single religion.
