Yeah, they almost certainly approved it without looking at the marriage or divorce laws for any of the states involved. In fact, they probably spent less time on your case then we have on this forum. They probably just looked at the documents you provided, saw that you had proof of a valid divorce and proof of a subsequent valid marriage, and accepted it at face value. Congrats!

As far as your other problem, it sounds like the only real problem is that your marriage is not recognizable in Wisconsin. However, it IS recognizable in Minnesota, and probably every other state in the US.

You should probably not attempt to get your Minnesota marriage annulled so that you can remarry, as you previously mentioned you were considering. This could still come back and bite you when you file to remove conditions.

I presume there are ramifications to living in Wisconsin when the state won't recognize your marriage, such as not being able to file a joint state tax return. Have you considered moving to a state that will recognize your marriage?

I'm glad that worked out for you.

Living in Northern Illinois I have some family and friends in Wisconsin and I have to say that while it's a nice place to visit something has always felt off about that state.

Good luck in your move to MN and with ROC, remember to get a lot of stuff in both names (Joint assets & liabilities)...
