Today, our case started in mid december of 2009, is OFFICIALLY OVER! My husband picked up his visa and we bought plane ticket :)

Now,as far as visa look goes-I guess everyone is getting same thing these days-I've never seen it like this before; it's actually looks like GC ,size of a passport page,in color,it is stamped but looks like laminated card and kinda like it's glued to the passport page(but is not).It has pic on it,a lots of numbers(just like GC) and it says VISA in left upper corner...in the letter that he received with it,says only about SSN and nothing about welcome letter and GC,but letter I am talking about is like welcome letter thanking him for interest to live in US and so on...The only thing it says regarding this 'thing' in passport(visa) that he needs to renew it for primary in 1 yr(because we are married less than 2 yrs now) So...did anyone received something like that(I mean visa like that) and do I still wait for GC or this is it-now I am little confused. He wanted to ask a guy on the window but guy said,he cannot answer any questions and everything says in the letter...which is as I said-only about SSN and when and how to obtain one if one is not received. I am used to 'stamps' in passport, that are visas actually so this whole GC looking thing is something I see for the first time...Anyone? :)

visa in passport, passport in hand?

later, when coming through the POE, a CBP officer will make a stamp in the passport, validating to VISA stamp to be used as a temp I-551 document, for up to 1 year. (this is a form of temporary green card, or I-551 document).

Once he comes across the US border, his 'arrival' will trigger the card production, the actual green card will be sent to the listed USC's address. If you've moved , or are uncertain that USCIS has the right address on YOU, hey ! hey can update the address at the POE with a CBP officer.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

You can actually do a google search for "K1 visa" or "K3 visa" - the more popular visas - and come up with some images. They are approximately what the visa will look like when you get it in your passport.

You might want to read through the subforums in the US Visa Holder and Permanent Resident section on VJ or the Moving Here and Your Life in America subforum . It should help get some idea of what people do once they enter America and the rest of the process.

YES,VISA IN PASSPORT,PASSPORT ON HAND,TICKET PRINTED :)))

i JUST ask because it looked different of what I expected to see(I was asking yesterday about what after he comes to US as far as GC and SSn goes, but visa look made me confused) some kind of stamp too or something not this whole GC looking visa with picture and everything, nice and shiny, taking up the whole entire page in passport, hahahaha so that confused me of should I wait for GC or this is the one for first yr.And letter too, since is like the one they describe here as WELCOME letter...Adress is fine...no need to be changed. He can ask at POE if someone will tell him,hahahaha...
