We were planning on going somewhere, but my husband said he was going to plan/book it as a surprise for me, and he's a terrible procrastinator who rarely manages to get things done. I kept telling him we were running out of time but too late. Summer is almost over and he "couldn't find any good deals". :crying:

Next time I'll be handling the vacation planning.

yeah the same thing would happen here.. I am the one in charge of vacation planning..lol he always says he wants to do it but he never does.. :P and like you if I left it up to him it wouldn't get done...

I visited my family for a week before 4th of July then my husband drove up to join us for a few days. Not exactly a "vacation" since it was family time but still fun. Most of my husband's vacation time gets used up for going to India(we were away to visit there march-april for almost 3 weeks). But we are going on our first cruise In September, though technically after Fall starts. But it will still be too hot here in Florida. Tampa to Cozumel. Even taking our son.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Nothing personal but I give this a big fat boo-hoo. 10-15 days of PTO/year is pretty standard in most industries (unless you work for the government). Most companies are moving away from separate vacation and sick leave and just doing PTO.

It sounds all totalitarian when you say 1 day per month. But if you count weekends, you're only working 21-22 days a month anyways. If you give more than 1-2 days off, not much is going to get done.

Until you get sick, need surgery, and use up all of your PTO and then some.

Still can't believe that some countries in the EU get six weeks of paid vacation.

My dad is a cleaner and gets that. He doesn't "need" that much time, so he's going to either save it for when there's snow on the ground and he doesn't have to go in, or take it out in money.

My brother gets it too, he works at Walmart. He takes 2 weeks off just because it's his son's birthday, and he gets 2 weeks off for 'stress' as long as he can get a doctor to agree it would be beneficial.

My friend complains that she only has 3 weeks left to use for the rest of the year.

 I miss this.
