Received AP in the mail today. Question about names...

My wife received her AP documents today. She received 2 documents that were exactly the same that had her info and pic. Question one is, why 2 documents?

My next question is more of a concern. My wife's passport has her maiden name (she came over on K-1 visa), her AP document has her married name. Will there have to be anything else my wife has to carry with her to return?

My wife and I have no plans to travel outside the country anytime soon, but I just want to be prepared to know if she needs to bring any extra documents with her.

I would say carry a copy of you Marriage Certificate.

It's probably 2 copies cause maybe you would need to take 2 trips?

A ) Upon your first reentry to the US, they stamp both of the documents and keep one. Upon subsequent reentries [prior to getting your GC, which obsoletes the AP documents] you just show them the remaining stamped document.

B ) Having a different last name on the passport vs. the AP and/or GC is very common. Carry a photocopy of your marriage certificate to document the name change. No big deal.
