Entering as a "Visitor" after K-1 granted?

Ok So this may have already been posted but I could not find it....My question is...if my K-1 is granted say Nov. 15th (no interview date just a random example) and then I have plans to enter the US for American Thanksgiving Nov 26-30th as a Canadian am I allowed to enter as a visitor (no visa required) and not "activate" my K-1?

Reason being my FMIL wants to throw us a wedding shower around that time and when looking at other MOntreal timelines it seems to be approx 4-5 months after P3 is logged that they get their interview which would land me around that time. I do not want to enter the US on my K-1 till after Christmas so that I can see my family before I move and therefore would only be wanting to activate it in early Jan...is this possible OR once I have the VISA in my passport do I have to use it on my next entry?

Thanks in advance!

ya, there have been some reports of this being 'do-able' for Canadiens...

where the K-1 visa isn't 'activated' on that 'trip across'.

Gotta be specific about it, though, at the POE.

Can't say it's 'gospel', either - as, IMO, it depends on the CBP Goon you get.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

This has been possible for Canadians, for some reason, but not others. It is totally up to the CBP at the time of crossing. They may let you, they may not. It's a dice roll

Good luck
