AUGUST 2010 FILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After looking at the photos, etc. she said she'd recommend us for approval! So excited to have that behind us and will hold on to as much as we can as evidence for the ROC in two years.

Congratulations! It's a real weight off the brain, huh?

Still waiting for official approval here. We got an IO who asked a million questions (don't think it was just us, the people before and after us were each in there for at least 45 minutes), and afterwards we got the standard "we'll let you know if we need more evidence, otherwise you'll be approved."

<snip>

Then she told us she'd review our file and request more evidence if she needed it, otherwise it would be approved, and she went on to explain ROC, etc. Hopefully that's a good sign!

Yeah, I'm sure they know what they're doing, but the way they jump around with questions, etc, makes it seem like they're a bit scatterbrained. No doubt it helps them weed out people who aren't legit, but it's awfully weird to sit through. I found myself wondering at what point we were "actually" approved (did we walk into the room at 90% ok, or 10%, or 50%?), and how much of the interview was just to try to confuse us...

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you get nothing but an approval letter from this point!

Funny you should ask...

Just this evening (7:00-ish) I got a text message and email (I registered) indicating that we were approved. When I log into USCIS.gov I see a message indicating the same, but we haven't actually received the card yet.

I also received our email late on Friday, January 14, saying that card production has been ordered and the same information is posted on our USCIS website.

Ceadsearc, I hope you get positive news soon. So annoying to go through a grueling interview like that and not be able to leave with some peace of mind.

I am the US citizen, my hubby is the applicant.

Just curious - did you get an "approval" notice, too? Or just a card production notice? I received the former, but not yet the latter, even though the IO told us he was ordering card production while we were sitting there.

I just received the card production notice. It's so weird how inconsistent these seemingly simple steps are!

Even weirder: the green card arrived today!

(we were out of town over the weekend, and the approval letter and green card were both in the mailbox, but with different postmarks - we can only guess that the approval letter arrived Saturday, and it was dated the same day as our interview)

Now, to start collecting info for the ROC. Our goal is to go through without an interview...

Provided that a couple has ample evidence of a continuing relationship, removal of conditions (after the 2 years are up for the initial, conditional green card) are often approved without an interview. At least, that's what our immigration officer told us.

Ugh! It is completely frustrating how you get different answers from different people! You'd think there'd be consistent guidelines that they follow but it really just seems like each officer is at their own discretion on how to act and respond to applicants. Hopefully what our IO said is more accurate than what your IO said, but who knows!

Any more word on a result from your interview, ceadsearc?
