Hi, another question for my new favorite people ever! (that means VJ people) here is my situation but first just for clarity I am the USC petitioner my wife is the foreign spouse beneficiary, okay here we go:

I sent my I-130 in and it arrived on Friday(today is Monday). No check cashed yet and no NOA1 yet but i expect them soon.

My original plan was to wait until after wife has successful interview and then go and visit briefly before her and I head back to USA.

BUT! I have an oppertunity for free airfare and a month all expenses paid if i go there in december and if i do go in december i will just stay until her interview, if im lucky and no problems that would be six months from now putting it in early February

I would very much like to do that as i can swing it with work, money, etc.. and of course i miss my wife terribly.

My question to you all is: Can anyone see any potential problems if im not in the US while paperwork is going through, it would seem that i should be here in the US until after my I-130 is already at NVC (but of course who knows)

I have plenty of family here who can assist in sending things in to NVC or USCIS but of course I couldnt get things notarized ( or could i at us embassy?)..

Anyway.. thoughts??

Thank you!

NVC PROCESSING hoops to jump through, whilst overseas:

1. DS-3032 - SOLN - send in the email version , use the ascii text version from the VJ WIKI

2. Calling NVC - SOLN - get a skype out account, is special program from unlimited calls within USA (NVC is a USA #)

3. online payment portal - SOLN - can do from Indonesia, must have USA checking account, is ACH electronic check system for payment

4. sending stuff to NVC - SOLN - have person in USA do this. Generate the coversheets in the online payment portal, print to pdf, then email to yer buddy in the USA for inclusion on each set.

5. DS-230 - need her original documents and singature- suggest she get those and send to you prior to yer jump. Then you have it 'prepped for mailing' whilst yer in USA, then yer buddy just adds that coversheet, later.

5. appointment letter - wife should get an email about it.

HTH !

Sorry, was writing some code last night, got stuck with some shorthand.

SOLN = Solution

re:DS-3032 - emailed, ASCII TEXT template is acceptable, no signature required.

I live overseas with my wife in Thailand while waiting on visa and have had no problem and also maintain my residence in Texas. Once the NVC operator gets your emails, then everything is received via email. Any paperwork you should already have gathered and just send DHL. Very effective. By the way, I work in Indonesia on an oil rig so I have a short commute home to my wife!!
