Who is more despicable? A man who employs an illegal immigrant or a man who employs a prostitute?

The more I think about it, the more there is in common.

1. It is illegal for an undocumented immigrant to work. It is also illegal for a woman to prostitute herself.

2. Economic desperation is a powerful driver of behavior in both cases.

3. Both prostitutes and illegal immigrants are prone to abuse and exploitation.

4. Employed illegal immigrants disrupt healthy labor markets; prostitutes often disrupt healthy relationships.

5. There are well organized criminal enterprises at work arranging supply of both prostitutes and illegal immigrants.

6. Neither illegal immigrants nor prostitutes pay taxes on their earnings. Both send their children to public schools and otherwise consume taxpayer-funded resources like public libraries and interstate highways.

I'm sure there's more. So VJ ... who's more despicable? And why?

What if the prostitute is an illegal alien? Does that make it twice as despicable?

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

A good question and yes it is hard to answer. Both are doing dubious things in my opinion. The reasons for why they are doing it have some similarities but also differences.

A man who employs an illegal immigrant in order to pay them less, and possibly threaten to report them should they protest any work conditions, is exploiting for their own greed.

A man who used the services of a prostitute is not doing it for greed. I'd say those driving factors are different. If the man is in a relationship and going to a prostitute secretly, that is extremely despicable to me.

But either way, neither things are good to me.

Let's say you suffer from dry mouth and only have enough spit left to spit on one person. Who do you pick?

Assume you have no other way of demonstrating your contempt.

I would never spit on anyone! lol

You are bad at following instructions. I find that incredibly despicable, although less so than if you were seeing a male prostitute.

Even if I live someplace it is legal?

Yes. It is illegal in most parts of this country so that's not an unfair assumption to make. It's not like I'm asking you to assume unicorns exist, which as we all know is only true in Alaska.

Thankfully...

You are bad at giving instructions! If I was forced to spit on anyone, I think I would pick the pimp/whoever is in charge of the prostitutes who are doing it out of desperation and for meeting money quotas of an abusive pimp.

You pick the pimp, not the coyote. You've answered my question. Thanks.

I don't know as much about the other side of it. I know what illegal immigration is, I don't know all the things that go on behind the scenes up until that point or when they get their jobs. I have probably seen more depictions of the prostitute side of things.

Great question! And in point of fact, many prostitutes are illegal aliens.

Personally I don't like prostitutes or illegal aliens peddling their wares on the street corners of my neighborhood. For some stupid reason illegal aliens are some sort of sacred cow. The cops crack down on street prostitution and street dope dealing, but illegal aliens are free to loiter in great numbers to openly sell illegal labor even though it is illegal for them to work and illegal for their employers to hire them. Kind of weird.

I agree. Loitering ordinances should be enforced much more rigorously. I was down in the Raleigh area a few weekends ago and saw a lot of that by illegal workers. I don't see that at all where i live though.
