Silly question though. What rules a family applies to its members are one thing. It has nothing to do with the government making decision FOR people. What rules a person or family decides for itself has nothing to do with the rest of us being forced to follow the same rules.

What has nothing to with the government making decision for us? The question posed was, assuming that prostitution was legal, what man would both buy sex and support their daughter in a decision to become a prostitute even though other lucrative career paths where open to them. I fail to see how you can justify bringing what government wants or does not want into it - perhaps you can elaborate?

well #######, how can i hide my disappointment?

i suppose there's worse things than being a prostitute and selling one's body - politician, sell one's soul.

feel free to add to the list.

Paying for sex is worse imo.

So who is taking posting here so seriously now? 35K+ posters.

Sorry Hopp. I still think Sheriff Joe is a self-promoting thug. I'm afraid you're just going to have to deal with that ;)

This guy.

If it was legal would you still have the same objections to it? In this thread, MC posted that prostitution would be a legal enterprise.

If it was legal I would still hold the opinion that a guy who pays for sex is despicable.

So what does that make the woman/man that takes money in exchange for this despicable guy to perform sex acts with them?

if that is what one wanted to do, sure. as a parent, i'm sure you're aware of how effective it is to tell a kid (especially a teen) that they can't do something.

OK you do not say anything, for the obvious reasons, but what would you think? Would you be disappointed? Not bothered? Delighted? I personally would feel disappointed if a child of mine chose to sell their body for sex as a choice of profession, whether or not I tried to dissuade them from doing so, which I would on grounds of safety but also based on my personal values on sexual activity and relationships. If despite all that they were determined to do so, I would of course support them as a person, regardless of what I thought about this choice.

As if anyone here would really be "happy" if their daughter turned to prostitution.

I expect noone wants to admit that because men who use prostitutes don't want to think about the woman being someones daughter.

I wish people would honestly examine how they feel about this - any discomfort should be dealt with before one goes out and buys a prostitute not pretend that it is ok because it is someone else's family values, that argument is insane.

Noone asks anything new do they.

I'm less inclined to judge the prostitute than the Johns.

So...are prostitutes victims, lowlifes, etc.? What are they if the customer is despicable? Why let the prostitute off the hook for selling it on the open market? I realize that some women are forced into it, but what about the ones that do it by choice?
