Kittyfang - i didn't have my vaccination records either and the only things the civil sourgeon did was 1. TB test and 2. blood work. That's it. I don't understand why other places require such a detailed list of vaccinations to be done. In less than 1 week my medical was DONE.

I don't know. I think that with all the free time many of us are forced to have we start over studying things like medical, back ground checks, interview, etc.. We end up thinking and over thinking thinking the whole thing. It ends up looking way more complicated than it really is... At least, I hope. lol!

As for the medical, I figure, if the c.s. wants to give me something that I don't have, fine. My only concern was having to go back. I live pretty far and didn't want to have to travel twice. So, hopefully, he takes my t.b. test and blood work. :)

Also... How have you been Juliava? :D

Kitty, I was surprised at how quick things were at my CS. I had printed the I-693 myself but he didn't ask for it. He asked me to fill out a chart with my details (that he later on passed on to the form he printed out himself). He introduced himself asked me to sign the I-693 and date it, which I did (His copy, not mine), checked my vaccination records, wrote them down. Then he drew some blood and he did the TB test. He gave me my vaccinations record back and told me to go back in two days and get the results.

When I went back two days later he gave me a sealed envelope and a copy of the sealed envelope so I could see the results.

It was painless and a much better experience than I expected. Hope it goes great for you!

Thank you for sharing! I'm hoping it goes as smoothly too. As I said, I did the blood work and t.b. test in advance so that I wouldn't have to go back, but other than that, I don't see why I would have issues.

KurlyK, they test for syphilis. They use to test for AIDS as well, but not since February of this year, I think.

As I've said, I don't have my shot record, so that is why I had an MMR titer. Also, if you see the link I posted to the USCIS document, many shots are age sensitive. I'm not sure why your civil surgeon charged you $1000. My phisical is $100, Tdap is $45 and MMR titer is $50 (ish). There is no other shots that are appropriate for my age, again, not according to Vaccination Requirements for Adjustment of Status for U.S. Permanent Residence: Technical Instructions for Civil Surgeons, December 14, 2009

The one shot that I am missing, as I've said, is varicella and it seems to run for about $45.

I think you sound fine. You're right about the age appropriate. I am 36 and all I needed was the TDap, and TB test.

I believe you will still need to have the blood work and the TB test done by the Civil Surgeon so be prepared for those to increase the cost of your test. Everything else seems good. Good luck.

Not really. You can literally have everything done by another doctor except for the physical. At least that's how it worked with my CS. I had everything done at my University (free or very little money), just took the results and CS was fine with it.

Hi there, correct me if I am wrong, but I think we went to the same CS, seriously!:) When I applied for AOS I used to live/work very close to his office, in Falls Church, VA (I think his office is located in Arlington, VA though). This guy really knows what he is doing there, he doesn't want to send you back and forth to bring him extra documents, he makes the whole process really simple.

Quick update!

Got RPR test results (didn't get AIDS testing done, because it's no longer required) as well as Tdap and MMR (booster) shot.

Medical is in 2 days and I'll be bringing those tests results as well as T.B. tests results.
