Welcome to VJ.. I would start reading the guides and trying to gather the documentation you will need for the next steps. Don't fill out forms too prematurely though because when submitting forms you need to have the latests revision of the forms.. but just start looking at what you will need. I see you are a K-1 so there are things you will need for the next step of your journey!

Good luck :star:

Hey Diana, welcome to Visa Journey...the place we can trully be understood..:)

I also just got my NOA1, and I am anxious about this process as well.

I think the best we can do is to gather all the documents, take our shots, do the medical exams, and also organize our lives...I mean...I have so much to before I leave, like drop school, work, cancel bank accounts...pass my car to someone´s name.. and I guess you probably have a lot to do too.

Also, I am trying to enjoy my loved ones as much as I can..it will be hard to say good bye.

Meanwhile, we all have this website to dispose our anxiety!

Good luck with everything :)

Diana, I don´t think there´s anything we can do to make the process faster, however, it seems like the packages sent in april, may and june are being processed very quick, and that makes me very hopefull...(see the timelines...do you have one?)

What do they want? a clean record, proof of the relationship...pretty much it!

As for documentation, there´s a pretty good load of information that you can find on this website....

Trust me, I know your pain...I wish I could be with my love as well, but since I can´t...I keep planing up our future...seing places we can travel...schools that I can enroll, jobs that I might be able to get...and alsoooo...there´s a long journey until the green card...

Good luck sweetheart...hopefully our pain won´t last too long!

Diana, where in Canada are you? This will affect where you will interview for the visa. If you are in Western Canada you will interview in Vancouver. If you are in Eastern Canada, you will interview in Montreal.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think you're looking at longer than 5 months. Canadian consulates are incredibly slow at the moment, espcially Montreal who is averaging about 3 months for an interview.

Patience is part of this process, we've all been through it and thankfully they are moving faster than when we were processed

Good luck

So, you'll interview in Montreal. The good thing is only 3 cities in Canada have approved doctors to do your medical and Montreal is one of them. Also, you should work on getting your long form birth certificate (google Quebec Long Form Birth Certificate) as you will need this and inquire about your police certificates. Those you can do now so you won't be scrambling at the end.

Good luck

Depending on your state you move to, you may not be able to start school as early as you think. Many of the schools have different credit needs than canadian schools and many american schools require profesional transcript reading before they will even look at your request to apply at the school. In nebraska you cannot attend a college or university as a resident under resident fees untill you have lived in the state for 12 months. If you want to attend early you will pay non resident fees which are double the regular price.

If you are wanting to look at schools you should look at your state regulations first and learn about what they require and what the schools require of your former school transcripts etc first.
