What date to consider for eligibility (marriage based) when Filng for N-400

Hi,

Have a little confusion. Although, am a bit far from filing for Naturalization, I wanted to know whether the 3 year period is considered from the date of marriage or from the date mentioned on your Green Card. Since my Marriage took place in november 2008, and my Green card was issued in October 2009, When am I eligible to apply for naturalization?

On your green card it should have a 'resident since' date. It is 3 years from that date.

You must be a resident for 3 years, not married for 3 years

You have to be both a resident for 3 years AND married to the USC for 3 years.

If you did not get your residence through marriage, it is possible to be a resident for 3 years but not yet married for 3 years and have to wait until you have been married for 3 years also.
