well... ours wasnt approved. it apparently has to go under "administrative processing" which he said could take up to 6 months.

we had everything, and provided everything. the immigration officer even said we had everything.

when we asked what the reason was, he wouldnt say anything other than it has to go under "administrative processing".....

confused.....

I have a question about bringing in a car???

We have 2 cars now and we will be needing two cars. One car will be sold and a new one bought as it is over 10 years old now and time for a change.

The second is still in good condition and we would want to bring it in.

Does anyone know how difficult it is to bring in a car to the US, do you have to pay duties, are their restrictions?? I've heard conflicting stories and requirements. Some say a letter from the manufacturer, someone said nothing is requried, this car 2006 so only 4 years old??

Any help would be appreciated.

Generally you need a letter of compliance and a letter stating there are no outstandng recalls on the vehicle from the manufacturer. I received mine from Honda at no charge but I know other manufacturers do charge a fee. I believe there is no duty on US or Canadian made cars. These links may help.

Thanks OBX

To bass: re Admin Procc. there is a website I think it's called family based immigration, they have a section just for admin procc. It says why it goes there etc. I went to look as I got freaked as I can't afford to wait for things. You may want to google it I think it was ***removed*** or something like that. I'm sorry I'm not good with cutting and pasting links. I have trouble doing that.

good luck.

Hi All,

Been out of the loop on VJ. Since I didn't have a husband while in the States, I threw myself into career mode. However, I just wanted to say I am home in Canada. DH had his interview today which went AWESOME! I wrote my review...I'll be returning to the States this weekend...so am going to take the big sighs of relief with DH for the time being. Glad to see soo many have been approved and aren't lingering the loooooooong wait we had...from the change up. The BEST part its over...we're where we wanted to be~ FINALLY!!!!!!

Hey you, long time no see!

Glad you're done with this whole thing, thought you'd dropped off the map, wanted to make sure you knew about the self-scheduling. That's awesome that his interview went well. Wish you all the best in your new life in the US, together again. It's pretty awesome. ;)
