Wow I'm at 8 weeks going on 9 I think if I count weeks. Next week will be 2 months (July 13)

They didn't give me a time frame. They said. you'll be getting a packet in the mail and we will see you in the new year for your interview.

I just worry if it gets lost in the mail or wrong mailbox and it gets thrown out.

Thanks everyone for your support. I didnt' go and rent the apartment. I figured it this way. My business got all screwed up. No packet in the mail. I'll wait. When I get the packet I'll go get the address.

I'm so sorry for everyone here. I'm sorry to complain too. There are others here that have it worse than me. Thank you all big time for your support.

Yeah but this Thursday will be nine weeks since I filed in Calgary and still havent got my P3 (4-6 weeks according to them my butt. Their calander must count weeks differently than we do). Seriously getting sick of this waiting for nothing....If they didnt say anything Id be fine but since they told me 4-6 weeks I feel like they freaking lied....no shocker there I guess. Frustrations galore.

Yeah, as I mentioned, it could definitely take longer than the 4-6 weeks, especially because of the summer holidays.

If it makes you feel any better, the packet 3 letter says an interview will be scheduled within 4-6 months, which also seems to be a low estimate on their part. *cough*

Hi,

I have all the paperwork ready to DCF but was hoping someone on this forum had some insight on a couple of questions.

1. We live in BC, do we mail our application to Vancouver or straight to Montreal?

2. How did you guys pay the US$355.00? I cant find anything on this, Im hoping I can use a personal check, but don't know who to make the check payable to, or if it should be US bank or Canadian Bank?

3. Anyone know if DCF is still an option for Canadians given the wording change with the latest I-130 instructions?

"Where to File :

All petitioners who live in the United States or Canada and who are filing a stand-alone Form I-130 must submit their petitions to the Chicago Lockbox facility. Form I-130 petitions filed with the Chicago Lockbox will be routed to and adjudicated at the appropriate USCIS Service Center. This routing will be based on the petitioner’s place of residence."

Thanks!!

Hello and welcome, aeternal. :)

1. Neither, you present your I-130 application in person at the Vancouver consulate. From their website: I-130 Petition Filing: An I-130 immigrant visa petition can be filed at the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver on a walk-in basis on any Thursday between 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

You don't start dealing with Montreal until after the I-130 is approved.

2. I think they require a USD money order. I got one from CIBC, you hand them cash (CAD), they give you a money order. Easy peasy.

3. DCF is absolutely an option, however it's definitely not as fast as it is in all other countries. :P Some of our peeps have been doing this process since October/November. It is a 'convenience' option for US citizens residing abroad - they can file in their local consular district. You must be living in Canada legally (work visa or permanent resident) for at least 6 months, and of course, you must be married.

Any more questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks birdnerd,

I was worried that I couldn't mail it. I don't think Canada understands that this is a giant country, we don't all live near these big cities. Pretty lame, but I guess thats what I have to decide. Given its a 4-5 hour drive and that their website has conflicting information(one page says Thursday the other says Friday lol) i'm leaning towards going the US, Chicago route. Ive also gathered from this thread that it might not be that much faster going DCF route, Am I wrong?

Thursday

Friday

Thanks,

Hi birdned, wow, ok, thanks. I really do appreciate it.

I'm just nervous still no packet and at this point, it's not the timeframe so much as I am worried the packet got lost. If I don't get it in 3 months time I may just go up to them and ask on their walk in day.

Does anyone here have an e-mail addy to write to them??

ardnel, Montreal has 2 walk in days maybe vancouver has both thursday and friday as walk in application days, that is my guess?

Wow, yeah, that's strange.

You can try messaging someone who has filed through Vancouver, see if they have more info: superspur, bscobrown and mllover I think all filed through Vcr.

As for the giant country thing, just wait till you have to get to your interview in Montreal, and you'll also have to do your medical in either Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal.

It is unfortunate, but it looks like everything is taking really long these days - I-130 approvals as well as interview dates. You should hopefully get something soon, though.

There is an email address for Montreal, however you need to quote your case number in the email, which you regrettably do not have as yet.

To housewife;

u cannot go on walk in days @ the consulate after filing an I-130, I tried it coz I needed to ask somthing so I decided to go one day, but when I reached they told me that they cannot let me in coz I've already filed an I-130, & the walk in days & timings are just for that, if u need other info or have any questions, visit the website or email, I was really upset coz I was 8 month pregnant with my feet swollen & I had to walk from metro to the consulate :(

Thank you birdned and aimal. Thank you for the e-mail address. I will try to write to them if I don't get anything in 3 months time.

What happens if it does get lost in the mail. I know I've had bills land up in neighbors mailbox and thrown out.

I know my neighbors most likely would not give me my mail. They would throw it out. They steal my parking space that I own and then call me mean when I complain. Long story not worth talking about.

What does happen. How does one complain??? If you can't e-mail without a number???

Thank you all. I hope everyone gets something soon.

Again, thank you all for being here for me. It's nice to be able to reach out and just "talk" to someone who knows what you are talking about.

Aimal, I hope you are ok. Did you have the baby already?? Congrats on becoming a mom. I hope you are ok now.

Hi Housewife,

If you are worried if your mails were lost, you can always call NVC to find out if anything had been mailed to you or the latest status of your application on the database.

NVC ( keeps the log history of applicant files in their database).

202-663-1225 press 1, 0, 0 ( or listen to the prompts)

You will be asked of your case # if you don't you can provide other information.

hope this helps.

Just FYI ...To let you know about my painful waiting ordeal.... I'd been waiting for a new interview date since I postponed mine in January 2010, its been close to 9 months now and yet NIL...
