I was just reading several threads (which shall remain nameless) where fraud was clear from the get go. And in several of these threads, it seems that the USC has either commented on his/her physical features/situation 'I'm heavy set, middle aged' etc. Or there's pictures where the beneficiary was clearly wayyy hotter than the OP.

I really don't want this to be a flame war, but it's no secret that the prospect of a GC is an equalizer in many relationships where people get married to others whom they clearly don't even know inside and out. I am NOT referring to everyone here, just on the extreme cases. I posted this in OT because I don't want to kick anyone while they're down by posting it in the Effects forum. I have always had a theory that some of the older modest looking men on here would find life long bliss with the older modest looking women here. Yet it seems neither want each other, and both gravitate towards younger, hotter, foreign born SOs. Each claims to want 'family values/etc' yet, I find they each put looks ahead of that in terms of significance. The men put looks above substance, claiming American women are all golddiggers, yet accomplished American women will petition men with no money and hand them whatever they want. When it all blows up in flames, each claims the partner was 'Americanized' or something similar.

Anyone else find that strange? Why are looks so damned important when choosing a spouse???

A pretty face (and a young body) makes men happy. It's hormonal.

That doesn't mean an older woman can't satisfy a man in her own way. It just won't be the same rush that a young face and perky tits produces. It's different.

Sure, but a greencard still buys you a couple of good years. Maybe 4-5 years, if you play your cards right.

Physical attraction is just as important as mental attraction.

Your failed marriages come when you only look for one and you don't end up with both.

The initial attraction gets you in, but it's the mental attaction that makes you stay or go.

Same thing can be said for when people are friends and the mental attraction is there, but the physical is not. You can only handle talking to someone so much without the physical part before the relationship goes sour...

I totally see what you mean, but this isn`t new , it`s been happening since forever and is not always related to a GC, in every country in this world there are some rich old people, mostly men, with 20 yr old women.I know, it is indeed hard to understand for some of us but it seems to make a lot of sense to others.Just human nature , maybe "survival instinct" haha )

It still doesn't change what you're attracted to. It's the same thing how some skinny guys are attracted to large women or how some skinny women are attracted to larger guys even.

I agree with you actually. I just find there's no 'balance' in finding both in some of these relationships. I think in normal circs, like attracts like. You're hot, your spouse is hot. You're not, your spouse usually isn't either. Unless there's an 'equalizer'. But what does that say about a relationship IF there needs to be an equalizer?

Physical attraction doesn't mean both people are really good looking. It means you are just attracted to that person for whatever reasons there are. Superficial reasons alone are not good enough IMO. I also wonder why men who aren't hot and women who aren't hot would make such a fuss over wanting a hot person to be with. Welcome to reality, most people are not hot.
