hmmm...my friend's wife doesn't have insurance. she has a large kidney stone that she feels needs to be removed surgically. she went to the hospital and the doctor said it will pass but it will take awhile and they won't operate unless it hasn't passed after a few weeks because she doesn't have insurance. now she's saying she will write her congressman, oprah, and dr oz. #######?

I think they only operate if the stone is over a certain size. Below that you have to take a crapload of painkillers and try to pass it.

Val was a teen terror?

By some standards, yes. Hey, it is different growing up in a farming community. The only things to do were drink, go to the drive in, and have sex.

There is a travel advisory to Houston asking all visitors to wear thick socks at all times

Hey! You and charles! can just STFU. mad.gif

Five pints of timmy taylor 'best' and you could pass the rock of gibralter

I know of a cannibal who passed his brother on a jungle trail

that's what I told her. she seems to think they're discriminating because she doesn't have insurance. she puts up a fb update about it every 2-3 hours.

Is she a doctor? I really get annoyed with people who second-guess their doctors. How in hell do they know what needs to be done? And do they understand the inherent risks of surgery? blink.gif

Lady, go get a second opinion. If that doctor says the same thing as the first, give it up. And stop trying to get your 15 minutes of fame out of a freaking kidney stone!

No insurance in the USA ?

As I understand it, emergency rooms are not free - they take a lien on your wages and your house etc etc

The only people who are free have absolutely nothing

Is that correct ?

jeez that would be enough to make me pass a stone and the upper, transversing and descending colon too

apparently since she doesn't have insurance the hospital has a "charity" fund where you don't have to pay for ER visits if you cant afford them

amazing

people are either the immigrant or the sponsor and to the USCIS they say oh yes we can afford to live - the sponsor says yes I can support them if I have to.

Then they go get charity help (actually it's a charge on the other patients in most cases) saying they have zero money

Is there an inconsistency here ?

both of these people are non-immigrants. both born and raised in the US. she's just annoying me. if they say let it pass THEN F*CKING LET IS PASS!

That's good

everything passes - even Bill Clinton's libido

but I agree - if it's a free diagnosis then go with it.

No insurance in the US - bad idea

I brought a bird to Florida on holiday in 1991 and she got a sore throat - the prescriptions were $165 each for a few pills and we had at least 3 plus consultations, blood tests etc. That was very big bux then. I claimed it back on the travel insurance but I never forgot - it's astronomic !

Get insurance guys !
