That would be East Pakistan or Bangalesh?

You should know that "East Pakistan" is a designation rendered invalid as of 1971 (03/26 by Bangla Reckoning, 12/16 by rest-of-world), and is in fact pejorative (it is like calling a Pole as German--given that western Poland was part of German Empire prior to 1918)--also, since you replied to Nagi (who has no connexions to Bangladesh) rather than Indigo (who is native to that country) to go "back" there!

Get off the drink--or I will give you even more :bonk: :bonk:'s

My Goodness, your posts seem to be getting even more bizarre by the second. I don't think that you will understand the issues or the problems. You don't understand citizenship or reservations or the history of the Aboriginal People or the wanton abrogation of treaty after treaty by the white man. Go and read the history of how 2 billion acres was stolen from the rightful owners of the land, then come back and post.
Your too quick to render my opinion bizarre. I don't understand your stance, true. But tell me this: Do you want those 2 billion acres, allegedly stolen from Native Americans, to be handed back?

You just don't get it do you, genius. Any further arguments with you are a waste of type.
I wasn't aware that you were arguing with me. What's are you arguing about with me?

Indigo, you realize that Native Americans ARE US Citizens right?

Indian Citizenship Act of 1924.

I think what Indigo was trying to say was that governments should stop restricting Native North Americans (this is done both in Canada and US) to reservations.

Its not really that clear cut anymore. Obviously Native Americans can live where ever they like. There are other factors that determine where they live including internal rules and tax incentives etc.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — A small Indian tribe on New York's Long Island learned Tuesday that it had won a decades-long fight for formal federal recognition, inching it closer to opening a casino.

Shinnecock Indians celebrated with prayers and song but declined to discuss gambling, which would require further government approvals.

YES!

These are the ORIGINAL inhabitants of Long Island! :) I have a special place in my heart for the Shinnecock. They are a great people. I'm so happy for them.

Natives are not only citizens, most don't live on reservations. And, not all reservations are poor. Palms Springs, CA is owned by the Aqua Caliente tribe. Salmananca (sp?), NY pays rent to an Indian tribe. The Mashantucket Pequot were a scaggily bunch with a single trailer on their Rez until Chief Skip Hayward got a bug in his bonnet to organize his people and secure federal recognition. Now they are all multiple- millionaires, owners of Foxwoods, the most prestigious casino in the east coast. I knew most of these folks in the 1960s and 70s when they were laughed at as fake Indians.

I worked with them and the Native American Rights Fund when they were just beginning on the road to recognition and checked in with them over the decades. I'm proud of them and very happy for their success because I know where they started and the insults they suffered along the way, even from other Natives who looked down on them. Donald Trump will get his panties all in a bunch when the Shinnecock go for their casino, as he did with the Mashpees. I wish them all the best!
