I'd read about a few people being delayed after interview lately, because the consulate asked them to provide a I 864 for thier K1 visa applications. So I called the consulate, and was told that they are no longer accepting the I 134 for fiancé visas, and that the I 864 is now a required document. They haven't been informing anyone of this in packet 3. Can they do this? Require an I 864 for a non immigrant visa?

Sarah

I don't know what the current rules are, but I do remember when we were doing our K1 that there was at least one consulate that was requiring the I-864 for K1's. In Asia, IIRC.

I would say that they can pretty much do what ever they want to! It seems that way anyway...

I wrote to the consulate asking them about this a few days ago and they also told me the same thing that it is now a requirement as part of the k1 packet and it sucks for me because I had already sent the I-134 to my fiance so today I had to print out the I-864 And sent it to him, and also the fees went up to $350 dollars. this is just CRAZY!!
