Hi guys,

I know this may sound silly to a lot of you, but I feel like I wanted to share.

I am a big football fan (yes football, not soccer ;) ) and I am very excited about the World Cup. I just finished watching the USA-Algeria game...what an amazing game! I was astonished. They believed it until the end and they made it! You definitely don't see this every day.

All I want to say is that maybe for the very first time since I moved over here (it's been 4 months) I felt like I was truly, genuinely cheering for something good that had happened to the USA, just like I would for Italy. It's childish, I know, but it made me realize this is my home now, this is where I am building a family, and even though Italy will never, ever, be replaced in my heart, I can say today I am equally happy as if I was watching a sport event involving Italy. It's a strange feeling for me, but I think it's good. It's about football today, but it will probably be about something else, maybe something bigger, in the future.

Ok I am done here! Better go back to work now...

Thats not silly or childish at all! It's great!

Anyone who might ever suggest that you should remove the love for your homeland from your heart would be a fool - but it's great that you can grow with the US and share your love with both.

And by the way - if and when the US plays Italy in any sport - it's perfectly ok to root for your homeland!!!!!!!

My wife is from Vietnam and last year I was in VN when they were in the Sea Games. It was incredible to be part of the crowd and root for my "other home" and it was a true and amazing experience to be in Ho Chi Minh City to see and take part in the celebration of a win. The next game they lost and it was disappointing but everyone was still celebrating!

What a concept - to be happy whether you win, lose or draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
