Before entering to US i attain my 2 year marriage anniversary (even before interview). my green card is marked "Permanent Green Card", but it has a two year life time. my question is that if it is permanent why expires with in two years like a conditional one? in addition, the instruction says before expiry date fill out I-90. my question is that it is permanent or conditional?

If you had your 2-year anniversary before or at POE date, take your green card, supporting documents (marriage certificate) and make an INFOPASS. Ask for the 10-year card to be issued.

Also, moving this topic to a different forum as you're not adjusting status from student, work and tourist visa.

You Green Card, if it is of the "old" style (tan with a color picture), says "Permanent Resident Card" across the top. Because English is such a delightful language, this title can be reasonably interpreted in two different ways :

A ) Permanent Resident Card -> Resident Card that is Permanent

OR

B ) Permanent Resident Card -> Card indicating holder is a Permanent Resident.

While the first interpretation makes quite a bit of sense, the second is the correct way to read it. Ain't English fun?

I notice the "new" style (actually green, but with a black and white picture) card eliminates this grammatical ambiguity.

You green card will look the same regardless of whether it is conditional or permanent. The only difference will be the expiration date. Conditional cards will have a 2-year expiry date. Permanent cards will have a 10 year expiry date.

It sounds like you should have gotten a 10 year card, since you were married for 2 years prior to the granting of the card. Like milimelo says, make an infopass appointment to get that fixed as soon as possible.

DON'T PANIC
