Yes. You will still have your green card and will travel using that and your foreign passport. When you go for your oath ceremony they will ask you if you have travelled between the time of the interview and the ceremony so you would disclose your travel at that time. The reason they ask is to ensure you still meet the physical presence/residency requirements. It won't be a problem unless you are away for a long time .

An additional note, you are not a citizen until you take the oath so keep that in mind if anyone asks or if you have to fill out any forms.

Plus make sure you are still residing in the US. If found you are actually residing elsewhere then your oath could be denied. Make sure it's only a trip...

My husband is planning to go to Ghana for a visit before taking his oath (he is going to ask it to be postponed).

Is 60 days away too long a time? It seems the physical presence was met before the application was sent. He hasn't been out of the USA much at all before this upcoming trip.

60 days is fine... just when he goes for the oath, make sure he takes with him his passport because they will ask him if he has traveled and how long? therefore, they might ask to see proof and the best proof is entry/exit stamps...

It is never a good choice to postpone a trip for the oath unless you absolutly have to (emgergency in the family etc). Being put back into the USCIS system and re-queued could be a long time before you get your next oath ceremony. So be prepared for a long possible wait for another oath ceremony if you don't get lost in the system when you get put at the back of the line...

This should have said "never postpone the oath for a trip" not the other way around...
