obtaining an EAD at the POE (Chicago ORD0

Hello

I am entering the US next week (possibly through ORD, no ticket yet) on a K1. As there is already a company waiting for me, I am curious what the chances to obtain an EAD (Employment Authorization Document) on the airport are? Should I ask the officer at immigration??

As our marriage takes place right away - we could file for AoS and EAD right away...and will if no other option exists...

Can I start employment without EAD? (only with social security)

THX for help

Not possible. It USED to be possible at JFK via a stamp in your passport but that is no longer valid.

And no, you cannot start employment w/out EAD as you'll have no proof to give an employer that you're eligible to work (an SSN is not proof enough). This should have been made clear in the K1 guide if you've read it.

If you marry right away and apply for AOS right away and submit the forms for EAD with the AOS it is possible you could have an EAD in about 2 months. That is about as fast as it will happen.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Don't bother, they don't give those anymore.

As our marriage takes place right away - we could file for AoS and EAD right away...and will if no other option exists...

This is the ONLY option.

Not legally.
