I proposed to John over Thanksgiving '08, ring (titanium, three diamonds and "Marry me?" inscribed inside) and everything. He loved it. But when I arrived at Heathrow the following June to bring him home from England, he surprised ME by getting down on one knee, with ring, at the terminal. He said he had wanted to propose all along, but was waiting until I came over to do it.

my husband came online one day and said AISHAH QUICKLY GET THE KIDS AND FAMILY WE NEED TO TALK!!! i was in shock so i got the kids together, called my brother,,he came over with his wife and child, hosssam said turn on cam and mic i was soooooooooooo nervous i thought something happened to his family or something hehehe i didnt know,, anyways he opened his and his mom and dad and famioly was with him ,, i was like uh oh,,,, hehheeh he had suit on and he said, my baby shooshoo we been together for a long time and i love u so so muchhhhhhhhhhhh will u marry me,, in was i accepted ,, he showed me my ring, we all talked laughed celebrated and 3 days later my ring came by fedex

Why did this get moved to MENA?

The man proposed in our favorite park...after taking me out to a fantastic dinner, we went for a walk in the park. I had no clue what was happening..he said 'oh we ate so well, let's just take a little walk to feel better. It's this park near our house, where we went on one of our first dates & it's very special to us. So, we stopped off and went for a walk...then we sat for a while on a bench just talking, when he got down on one knee and said the most beautiful things that made my heart want to explode. I won't go into details because it's something only for us two, but suffice it to say it was just amazingly heartfelt and very expressive, and I felt like the luckiest woman alive. He was tearing up, I was crying...it was just perfect and I never ever ever will forget a second of it.

Our proposal "story" is not really all that romantic. LOL. We had discussed possibly getting married a few months after meeting online. I went to Egypt to meet my now husband in person and while I was there he basically said something like, what do you think about getting married? I said, "ok" and that was basically it. 5+ years later and here we are living the "typical" American life. Kids, dog, cat, house, jobs, etc. Not romantic but it worked for us and we're happy.

We had discussed marriage long before he actually asked me...I was "gunshy" to getting married again. He actually talked to my son and daughter before he asked me to make sure they were ok with it the whole idea! Then he asked me via webcam and mic. Once I got to Egypt, he got down on one knee and put the ring on my finger

He asked me exactly 4 months after the day we met online: "Would you say 'yes' if I asked you to marry me when we meet in person?", I said: "Yes." (I knew he was the one)

4 months later in Cairo, we were heading to have dinner at a mall. While we were in the cab, he held my hand and I felt a box. I had that confused, puzzeled, smiling look on my face (he told me later)...he was smiling and looking into my eyes. He told me not to open it yet. We arrived at the mall, picked a resturant, sat down, and then I closed my eyes and opened the box and there was my ring. It was so beautiful. He took it out and put it on my finger, we both were smiling and tearing.

It was so big though. He got a size 8 ring, when we resized it we found out my ring size is 4 1/2.

Can I post here?

Ok, so, Mr. Sachinky had been telling me that he had something HUGE to tell me for about a week earlier. I mostly ignored it, thinking that he was probably planning a sports website or some sort of a trip or something.

On Wednesday, March 25 2009, we went out for dinner to our favorite restaurant in Ithaca, NY where we both were attending college which was somewhat unusual because we don't really eat out on weekdays, mostly, we just order in. The fact that Mr. Sachinky was wearing his best suit and jacket and boot and a blue tie (even though he hates ties) should've probably tipped me off. Instead, I just felt poorly dressed in my t-shirt, jeans and heels next to him. Dinner was fine, the food was excellent. On the way back, he seemed really nervous and his hands were clammy -- I chalked it up to him overeating and experiencing heartburn.

Anyway, we got back to his place. He had left a couple of candles burning. And then he started talking about how much he loves me and I stood there wondering, "Why is he giving a speech?" Finally, when he went down on one knees and produced THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ring, did it begin to hit me what was actually going on.

So obviously, I started bawling. Like sobbing. Which is why I was very glad he hadn't done this at the restaurant as he had originally planned but had to improvise because it was very crowded and loud. Would've been mad-embarassing, otherwise. He asked "Will you marry me?" twice before I could choke out a "yes" and you get the rest of the picture. So, yeah.

After that we called our friends and woke my mother up at five in the morning. My best friend knew it all along since Mr. Sachinky had called and asked her for her advice. I still can't believe she didn't give me a heads-up. So it was an enormous surprise to state the obvious. I spent the rest of the evening alternating between smiling, crying and dry-heaving.
