Or even Canada and the USA. At some point Americans will take over Canada just for the water. Been hearing about that for years.

Canada... the 52nd state

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Yeah, NDP has been using that as a campaign slogan since 1988.

Their election slogan for that year had an actor playing "American negotiator" saying "there's a line in the trade agreement I don't like". When the Canadian asks him which one, the American says "this one" and erases the Canada-US border on a wall map. That showed the extent of the NDP's ability to generate any new ideas after Tommy Douglas' retirement (dunno if it had any before that)--and those commercials were a loser.

Also, historically the Americans DID attempt twice to take over (then Brit ruled) Canada--in 1776 and 1812 (failing both times).

So, why are you now repeating the failed NDP commercial?

Well, I guess you are right. They NEED water. I use a pisspot pile of the stuff myself. When we build a reactor these days are we still flushing it for weeks removing the beer bottles and sandwich wrappers?

How else you going to get rid of that stuff? ;) I work in the Nuclear industry and have many many stories I can't share with you.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Complete lyrics of the song which LuckyStrike was promoting metaphorically (as I used the lyrics on the song thread, I'll leave off the title and performers/authors)

'Twas on the Monday morning, the Gas man came to call.

The gas tap wouldn't turn - I wasn't getting gas at all.

He tore out all the skirting boards to try and find the main,

And I had to call the carpenter to put them back again.

Oh, it all makes work for the working men to do.

'Twas on the Tuesday morning. the Carpenter came round.

He hammered, and he chiselled, and he said "Look what I've found:

Your joists are full of dry rot, but I'll put them all to rights".

Then he nailed right through a cable and out went all the lights.

Oh, it all makes work for the working men to do.

'Twas on the Wednesday morning the Electrician came.

He called me 'Mister Sanderson', which isn't quite my name.

He couldn't reach the fuse box without standing on the bin,

And his boot went thru a window, so I called a glazier in.

Oh, it all makes work for the working men to do.

'Twas on the Thursday morning the Glazier came round,

With his blowtorch and his putty and his merry glazier sound.

He put another pane in - it took no time at all -

Then I had to get a painter in to come and paint the wall.

Oh, it all makes work for the working men to do.

'Twas on the Friday morning the Painter made a start.

With undercoats, and overcoats, he painted every part,

Every nook and cranny, but I found when he had gone

He'd painted over the gas tap, and I couldn't turn it on!

Oh, it all makes work for the working men to do.

On Saturday and Sunday they do no work at all,

So 'twas on the Monday morning that the Gas man came to call...
