When submitting DS 230 to NVC do we need police clearance certificate or passport clearance certificate? Police clearance certificate needs a consulate letter in Mumbai to be issues. Please reply on this......

You need both the certificates for submitting it to the NVC. But if you do not get the Passport clearance certificate without the appointment letter, you can mention it in the cover letter with the other documents you send to the NVC.

Oath Date: November 23rd (After numerous calls and Info pass inquiries to USCIS)

US Passport received: December 12th 2014

Filed for Parents - IR5

NOA1: April 2nd 2015

I am getting the passport clearance certificate but not the police clearance certificate. Will that work? Police certificate is needed during the time of the interview. Which I think I will get it by then.....Any comments or thoughts?

I think you need both the certificates for NVC to complete your case. In case you give only one, they might give you an RFE for it.You can try to get the PCC showing your passport clearance certificate.

Please update your timeline so others can get an idea about the approval estimation.

Yes,I was sent these papers my husband two days ago whit translation! I called NVC and thay told me to do it.

November 2009- I-130 filed

December 2009- NOA1 Received

April 15 2010- NOA2 Received APPROVED

April 26 2010- Got NVC case #

May 2010- DS-3032 Sent and accepted

May 2010- AOS&IV Bills received

May 2010- AOS&IV Bill PAID

Jun 2010- All document sent to NVC

Jun 16 2010- NVC received I-864

Jun 23 2010- NVC received DS-230

Jun 29 2010- NVC began processing documents

July 20 2010- Passed a medical examination

August 10 2010 FINALLY I got a SIF!!!! Yeeeeeeeeee

August 10 2010 CASE COMLPETE !! Yupiiiiii

SEPTEMBER 15 2010 Embassy interview!!! Yeeeeeee :) :)

September 19 2010 Our wedding anniversary :)

September 15 2010 VISA APPROVED

Ritesh - r you from Gujarat? If yes, then did you get your passport police clearance certificate from AMD passport office? As far as I know, they do not give you the PCC without seeing the letter from NVC. As for the local police clearance, that you should be able to get without any issues.

10/11/2010: AOS review fee ($88) online payment - IN PROCESS

10/14/2010: AOS status 'PAID'

10/19/2010: DS-230 IV status 'PAID'

India is a strange place - NVC requires BOTH CLEARANCES, but they do understand if both are not available during yer NVC processing timewindow.

If you absolutely cannot get the 'other one', submit a letter with the DS-230 stating why, and state, in the letter, that 'the other one' will be presented on Interview Day.

It's a catch-22 situation - cannot get 'the other one', usually, without an appointment letter.

IMO - if you 'do it this way' - then you'll be issued a checklist from NVC -

and you can take THAT CHECKLIST into the PCC office, and get it filed there.

Checklist letter from NVC, or appointment letter, BOTH are viable documents to make that request, for PCC, in India.

(and that's the extent of my knowledge - I know nothing more)
