I just found out that Verizon is offering Unlimited International Plan to Vietnam for $29.99 a month plus (it requires to be in a bundle with other services (e.g., Verizon Freedom Essential and Verizon High Speed Internet)). I confirmed it with a chat representative from Verizon. I will call Verizon to add it. For more info, check here http://www.verizonrewards.com/promozone/documents/onepagers/Verizon%20World%20Plan.pdf.

Unfortunately, Verizon TV and internet services are not available where I live. They only offer wireless and broadband wireless service here. I have a Verizon wireless account only, with 4 phones.

We use Lunex Telecom to call Vietnam. It's not as cheap as this Verizon package, but since that's a bundle it's difficult to compare directly. Anyway, I just bought another $100 of credit with Lunex, which is good for about 2300 minutes to any landline phone in Saigon or Hanoi, and good for about 1400 minutes to a mobile phone anywhere in Vietnam. Phuong calls someone almost every day, and $100 usually lasts her about 2 months. The best part is that the Lunex account is keyed to the caller ID of your phone, so you don't need to enter any PIN numbers. You just call the local Lunex number and then dial the VN phone number. You can add up to 5 phones to the account. Phuong can call Vietnam using the Lunex account from her mobile phone no matter where she is, and it's treated like a local call. She doesn't have to call from our home phone or an internet connected VoIP phone. I also have our home landline number on the Lunex account (wireless service is not very good at my house because I live on a big hill), as well as my own mobile phone number (Phuong often forgets to bring her mobile phone - something she NEVER would have done in Vietnam! )

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

This is a very good deal compare to what I have been paying. My mother spent over $200 on http://v247.us, which provides similar service as Lunex. It is just more expensive.

A little update, guys. I love this plan. Our family called Vietnam over 3700 minutes a month and we only pay $60, which is a pretty good deal.

dang, that's pretty good prices. the plan the op was talking about was from Verizon. if you call a lot, then it's definitely worth it. luckily, my fiancee has internet at home, so we usually talk on skype.

Tuanv, you said $60, is that $60 just for phone?

Yeah, that include tax and everything for around 4000 mobile minutes though. You can call the home phone for all you want. For mobile, the first 500 minutes are free with the plan ($29.99). Afterward, it cost 1 cent a minute.

I used to be with V247 but switched to aloviet.com pinless. Ky Duyen advertises for them. It costs 3.5c/min to SGN/Hanoi and 6.5c/min to mobile. You can print out itemised call logs as well. The best thing is on if you recharge on Wednesdays they will give you 20% more credit.

I did close to 3000 minutes last month on top of YM webcam. Didn't know I was such a talker LOL. I had my girl try out the google phone thing to call me but for some reason the "call phone" link appears when I log in in the US but doesn't show when she logs into the same account in Vietnam. Must be a VN ISP proxy thing.
