Hola todos!

I am helping an American friend with his K1 Visa for his fiancee & her 2 children. (his Fiancee is my best friend in Cozumel Mexico) he is planning a trip to see her & her boys ages 9 & 13 this September. He is bringing Ring, to formally propose, papers etc...So they are in the beginning of this process. We plan to file everything right after the trip at the end of September.

I am going along & will take lots of fotos of proposal, kids & family shot going bowling, which they all love to do! Plus photo proof of having seen each other in the last 2 years, I was thinking a photo of them with the ring, both passports & a dated news paper!!!

He plans to file the I-129F as soon as we return to USA from Cozumel.

Here is my first question; do all Mexicans need to go throught the Cuidad Juarez office (this is really far away from Cozumel, and scary & would be added cost for Lupita & kids) or can she go to Merida Yucatan consulate (much closer & a fun trip) we need to know so we can plan to go with her & children to Cuidad Juarez since we do not want her to travel there alone, plus will need to save for the airplane tickets etc...

Please answer if you have any info about this!

One more question, as you may know mail does not get delivered to peoples homes on Cozumel, since hardly anyone uses postal service, what is the best way to handle that? For example, I doubt the Mexican postal service would find her house on Cozumel! How does her approval package get to her?

Thanks for the help, and wow this is an excellent website!!!!

I will be on here a lot!

Muchas gracias, Kim

I went to the Merida US Consulate website and its says thay do not process immigrant visas (although the K-1 is a nonimmigrant visa it is processed as an immigrant visa).

You will want to go to the Cuidad Juarez US Consute website and check out the information there.

Here is the link to the K-visa page: Cuidad Juarez K Visa

Not sure about the mail thing - others will let you know about that. Maybe they do contact my email - as some consulates do.

I think the kids have to go too. As for the immigration package, I got my packet 3 and 4 via email. Hoepfully that's how the consulate in MExico handles it too!
