We mailed our RFE to USCIS

P.O. box 648004

Lee's Summit, MO 64002

on the 25th and I checked the USPS tracking site and it says there that they tried to deliver the mail but left a notice and put a number or website to contact for redelivery. Has anyone here experienced the same thing? Is the USCIS going to pick up the mail? Thanks once again for your help.

Yes, in the P.O. box. USCIS has a P.O. box. USPS don't send to the office.

A P.O. box is exactly what the name implies - it's a box at the post office where mail is delivered. The recipient (USCIS, in this case) has to go to the post office and pick up the mail from the box. There isn't anyone inside the box to actually accept delivery because, well,... it's a BOX!

If you asked for delivery confirmation then you'll get a notice that the package was delivered to the specified P.O. box. If you asked for signature confirmation then the post office will usually hold the package, and leave a notice in the box for the recipient to come to the service window and sign for the package. Once they do that, you'll get a notice that the package was signed for.

In my case, usps delivered in the day 17, and the next day, 18, I received an e-mail saying uscis received my papers.

that means i don't need to worry coz USCIS will go pick it up anyway? how long does it usually take them to resume working on the papers again from that date of delivery?
