Hi there,

I have missed my oath ceremony, originally scheduled for April 12th, 2010. I wouldn't discuss why but will tell you that reasoning is extremely justifiable. Anyway, I sent a letter to USCIS, had an info-pass where I wrote another letter requesting reschedule ASAP. This was the first week of May.

A few days after the original ceremony, I received a letter from USCIS stating that they will reschedule. I haven't received anything since and we are going on June. I contacted my Congressman office but the person that deals with immigration is completely useless.

How do I get them to schedule me ASAP in Chicago.

Thanks,

Glorija

Glorija,

can you go to USCIS office and try to talk to the IO that interviewed you? You definitely want to get a service request put in for another oath ceremony.

I've been trying to figure out the oath ceremonies schedule for Chicago for June and July but the Dirksen building staff in the clerk's office do not seem to know anything, I just may have to go there in person and get someone knowledgeable.

reschedualling the ceremonies isn't as simple as just asking for the next one. You will have to wait since you are now back in the system. Some people wait months and some even longer. This is why they say never re-schedual the oath ceremony unless absolutely neccessary (death in the immediate family etc). Unfortunatly right now you just have to sit and wait until they eventually get back to you and try and schedual you in to a future ceremony...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

Even the IRS lets you make a mutually agreed appointment, USCIS doesn't do that, based on our older military, 1/2 second late and you were dead meat.

Wife's employer was gracious, for her to take a day off, had to hire a contractor at twice the pay, but they as we realized, without her green cards and USC, they would be both dead meat. USCIS came first, even if we had to leave a midnight for a morning appointment.

Then having an office in downtown Chicago, had friends killed going to work if not half poisoned by all those gas fumes, I did that briefly myself where life wasn't worth living anymore, even though the pay was great. If all did go well, was half dead tired when I got there as was everyone else. So you are not dealing with country friendly folks at the office. We have friend stuck with the Chicago office, its miserable. Don't expect them to cater to you, already mentioned one friend waited as long as 15 months, but others got by in six.

I need not comment about Illinois politicians. Heck, I was born there and moved out as soon as I could.

All I can say, is good luck, and if you ever do receive your oath letter, show up.
