It should take 1-2 weeks but I've seen petitions that have taken up to 9 weeks, so keep calling every week.

Also, since she should start getting her stuff together in Colombia make sure she gets extra copies of her birth certicates with translations so you can submit them with the AOS. And, if she's under 26, make sure she gets her HPV vaccine so it's approved by the doctor in Colombia, that way she won't have to get it here and get it approved by someone here, which can be costly.

My fiance has her interview Feb 23rd. I am hoping someone has an opinion to help me. I sent my I-134 with the I129f. When my fiance recieved packet 3 it had a notice in the instructions that if I sent the I-134 with the original I129f i was not required to re-submit. Does the instruction packet mean what it says in terms of experiece by anyone who has gone through this process? As the date gets closer i worry about little things because I tend over prepare. When I visited the first 2 weeks of Jan 2009, I did leave her with a signed and dated letter indicated there was no change of employement or fianancial status as extra courtesy and documentation. Is this overkill ?? any opinions?

My fiance received her package last week and in the package there is a paper that says she needs to send in 131 dollars now. Is this true and if so how does she pay for this. Also based on time frame now even if she does get this paper work in will she not have interview until march?

Hello everyone, I have a quick question My husband filed both the i-130 and the i-129 and we're still deciding if we want to go through the cr1 or the k3 process. I read somewhere that all K-3 cases must be adjudicated in the country where the marriage took place. I am currently living in Barranquilla, Colombia which is where I was born, but we got married in Miami, Florida, so how would that work?

It's always good to be over prepared than not having everything you need. The thing is, the I-134 was not supposed to be sent to the USCIS with the I-129F because the USCIS does not care about your financial situation to approve the petition. The only people who will care about this is the US embassy. Now, your case may have the I-134 with it but then again, the USCIS might have tossed it since they didn't need it in the first place. So my advice is to have a new I-134 ready and send it to your fiancé so she can have it ready at the embassy just in case they don't have it.

This is correct. The $131 is the fee she has to pay for her visa and it needs to be paid at Banco de Crédito in Colombia and she will have to fill out form DS-156K in order to pay for this. You can find all instructions for this in the K visa package found in the US Embassy in Bogotá.

The US embassy assigns interview dates for the following month if they receive packet 3 (what your fiancé recently received) before the 15-16th of the month. If they receive it after this date, they will assign interview dates for the month after. So if she sends this in before the 16th of February, she has a good chance of getting an interview date for March, if they receive it after February 16th, she will get an interview date for April.

Quick question for you! or anyone else with a good answer, I recently lost my job but thans to my good God gave me a better one! but di I have to inform this to USCIS? not exactly sure what to do! pay wise is maybe soon better that the other one but benefits a awesome and secure job which is better! what shoul I do? Help!!!!!!!

CR1 visas are much better than K3s, they take just as long and are less expensive. Plus with a CR1 visa you won't have to file for AOS.

If you were married in Miami, you will have your interview in Bogotá if you file for a K3 visa.

Sorry Orlando, I just saw your post.

Same thing happened to me and even sent the NVC a letter of employment after only having been there for a month. As long as you have your tax info, a letter of employment and copies of most recent pay stubs so you can send either the NVC (CR1 visa) or the embassy (K3 visa), you're fine.
