Hi VJ friends,

Wilma arrived last Friday, May 14, and we were married here in San Diego on Sat May 15. So far things have been wonderful. She is such a beautiful person and I am very thankful to God that I've found her. We seem to be a prefect match and are both happy with our decision. I haven't been posting much lately because we are just coming down from our honeymoon time and I finally had to start going back to work....that's hard to do but a necessity.

We have a few photos from our wedding posted here:

Here's some tips guys:

If you think you cleaned your house and think you've got it "filipina ready".....think again! Wilma has been non-stop cleaning! And wondering how I could live so messy....I said you should have seen before I cleaned it. The main thing I hear is "omg it's so dusty....you never dust?"

Make sure you show your new bride how to use the exhaust fan over the stove and tell her about this little device called a "smoke alarm." Yesterday I finally went to work and left Wilma alone for the 1st time and she started cooking her some breakfast, and ummm well she set off the smoke alarm and she said she freaked out and began running around screaming......

Not sure if it's just my Wilma, but she is always worried about ghosts and sleeping in the dark. We have to leave a light on..... and she's scared to go in some rooms alone....and always wants closet doors closed.

Better get ready for tons of calls back home to PI and a bit of homesickness. Wilma hasn't had a serious homesickness problem yet, but we do live in San Diego and we have lots of fun activities.

Be prepared to explain how home appliances work....like washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven. These things are not as common in the typical Filipino home. Wilma kept calling our toaster oven a microwave for a few days. :D

Grocery shopping is much different here as we tend to shop for the whole week on the weekend, they tend to shop for the next 1-2 days because they don't have big freezers/refrigerators or kitchen storage space. So they go to the market every few days.

Always give her lots of love n affection...she'll need it. She sacrificed a lot to be here and left family/friends behind.

Take Care everyone, good luck on all the journey's ahead.

Congratulations to both of you! Thank you for the well wishes. My journey is just beginning, but I know that with the help of the fellow VJers all will be fine. I am going to be in San Diego the first full week in June for a conference. Any hints on good places to hang out?

Ahh you finally showed up, I figured you were in cloud 9. Congratz and im happy for you !!! Lets have a beer the next time I am in San Diego !!!

It is true that filipina woman are scared of ghosts and especially of the WHITE LADY and ASWANG....hehehehe I get a kick out of it when Rose freaks out from this. Take her over the SEAFOOD CITY near sweetwater Rd or to NATIONAL CITY where there are many filipino Restaurants and shops.

Buy her $5 phone cards and have at least 1 ready for use at all times so when she starts to get homesick she can immediately call home. Another morale boost is the get her a subscription of the FILIPINO CHANNEL so she has something to watch while you are at work.

Thanks what I am going to be doing when Rose gets here.

Wilma fell in love with the San Diego Zoo! She was scared to go at first because the Zoo in Manila is really bad and they don't treat animals well. She was really excited at the SD Zoo because they really do care about the animals.

We liked the maritime museum and we also did a Hornblower San Diego Bay sunset cruise....very romantic! (L)

There's a place in San Diego called National City...it's a huge Filipino community. We had dinner there at a place called Goldilocks (apparently a PI chain). There's also Jollibee and Chow King, Seafood City...lots of places to get ur Filipino supplies..

Sea World is cool place but expensive. And this weekend we will be going to San Diego Wild Animal Park, part of the San Diego Zoo system. But very cool place to visit.

Feel free to PM me if you want better suggestions or if you're looking for something special..

Beer sounds good! Hey yeah, near that Seafood City is that Goldilocks restaurant and they are a filipino chain and makes Wilma comfy eating there. :)

Yep, I think we may add Filippino Channel coz I'm already get tired of watching Animal Planet...all the time....

Congratulations!! Nice wedding photos. My advice to all you guys is not to buy an expensive cookware set. I bought Ruchie a nice Chef set and it wasn't long before she had ruined and burnt the pans. They are use to cooking on high heat and are not use to cooking on low to medium heat....:bonk: I could go on and on, but I think you guys know what I mean.....
