After 2 weeks of flight shopping, I'm surprised at what I found..sorta..lol China Air is booked solid, PAL want's too much and Hawaiian Air only flys on certain days. Delta however flys nearly non-stop. One stop in Japan for fuel where she'll never get off the plane then direct to Detroit. 3 hour layover in Detroit where I'll meet her (perfect for getting through the POE), then straight to Wichita. She'll get breakfast between MNL and NGO, then dinner on the way to Detroit. To my surprise, there's no fee for checked bags either..who knew!! Grand total: $1006

I flew Delta last Saturday and the cost was a little more than that. I think that's a good deal. She can have 2 checked-in bags, 23 kgs each at no cost. CArry on is 18 kgs. It stopped in Nagoya for more than an hour just to refuel but we still had to get off the plane. We were in a long line to go through a security check, waited for 10 mins before boarding time.

From Nagoya to Detroit, they served like 4 times (we had snack two times, one dinner, and a pre-arrival meal, hehe. Good thing I didn't have a connecting flight from Detroit because the line through the immigration was long. My plane landed around 12:10 but I was able to get out of the airport around 1:45.

We'll have a connecting flight to come home from there but it doesn't leave for 3 hours after she lands - we should be good  I've only flown on China Air on my trips over and back so I was hoping Delta would be good for her, Thanks SG!

Gen is traveling PAL from Cagayan, to Manila, to Las Vegas. Flight was about $1,150 with taxes, I then booked a Southwest Airline flight to bring her home for about $150.

When I flew out to see her, I flew Northwest/Delta, and had about 14-16 hours total layover time on the way out and about 24 hours layover on the way back. I went from home to Minneapolis, to Tokyo, to Manila to Cagayan. That extra stop just about killed me, I'll never do that again. :bonk:

I like PAL's direct flights, and will most likely use them from now on.

Kevin not sure how many times I told you this but check Expedia, 1006.00 is way high expedia even has PAL filghts for 815.00, the trick is to fly into like SFO or LAX it's cheaper then domestic to say Kansas is like 85 - 100.00

Expedia is were I was checking, Pal was $1040 to LAX, LFO and LVG - one way and R/T. For some reason, that week in June is higher and I can't be flexible with the date. I didn't check the one way from Vegas to Wichita. R/T for me to vegas was surprisingly high too. Wichita is a hard place to fly to for some reason. There are very few non stop flights here. Even to Las Vegas you go through Denver. I booked the flight today through Expedia with Delta. Her flight here and mine to Detroit to meet her, all total - $1281 :) Not too shabby. Wish it was China Air ...maybe next time

Yeah that isnt too bad...I know I paid more than that for just Mhay's ticket to alaska....but that's the key word....ALASKA....of course it is starting to be like summer here too. I also wanted her to have the most direct flight I could find for a decent price. I could have gotten her a ticket for around $800 but she would have had to go to japan-seattle-anchorage.....and the layovers sucked....either it was a long time or not enough time to clear customs, immigration, and get to the next flight (only 2 hours in seattle). It was well worth the extra I had to pay for Mhay to go MNL-Guam-Honolulu-Anchorage.

Yeh, that's the problem Scott. We're standing right on the edge of prices going up for summmer I think. Tickets on China Air were 575 on the 8th, then 1024 on the 12th..bah!

When I called Delta back yesterday and bought the tickets, someone had cancelled apparently and my roundtrip to Detroit had been cut in half so I got her flight MNL to ICT via DTW (Detroit) AND my round trip from ICT to DTW for 1200 bucks..not too shabby . Now I just hope Delta is a nice flight for mah girlie :)

One stop in Japan for fuel where she'll never get off the plane then direct to Detroit.

Have her to be ready to have to leave the plane in Japan. We had to get off the plane, go thru security, and get right back on the plane  never have figured that one out, but I think that is SOP in Japan.

I guess they think you need to stretch your legs before the next portion of the journey!

I havent had problems flying delta or nwa (one in the same now). I know on my last flight back from the PI we had power inverters under our seat for laptops. Of course they have a TV screen for every seat and you can choose your movies to watch.

either it was a long time or not enough time to clear customs, immigration, and get to the next flight (only 2 hours in seattle).

:o Karen only has 2.5 hours in Minneapolis to clear customs & immigration! Is that enough time? :o

We had to get off the plane, go thru security, and get right back on the plane  never have figured that one out, but I think that is SOP in Japan.

Same thing happened to me on a layover in Alaska for China Airlines. Seemed kind of a waste of time for all of us to get off and then back on, but it felt good to get off the plane for a bit.
