After 2 weeks of flight shopping, I'm surprised at what I found..sorta..lol China Air is booked solid, PAL want's too much and Hawaiian Air only flys on certain days. Delta however flys nearly non-stop. One stop in Japan for fuel where she'll never get off the plane then direct to Detroit. 3 hour layover in Detroit where I'll meet her (perfect for getting through the POE), then straight to Wichita. She'll get breakfast between MNL and NGO, then dinner on the way to Detroit. To my surprise, there's no fee for checked bags either..who knew!! Grand total: $1006

I put a DP on Roses tickets the total cost is $770, its on PAL, straight from MNL to (somewhere in Canada where she will get off the plane for refueling then hop back in then to) Las Vegas where I will be picking her up, then straight to Ceasars Palace for a couple of nights before I take her home.

I checked PAL over and over and it was $1040 just to LVG, then I'd have to book the rest of the trip from there. I took a week off and they don't fly to Vegas on Fridays either. The other flights into LA and SFO don't get there until late night so we'd have to sit around the airport until 6am when they start flying again. Just not easy on short notice :(

i flew delta with my husband last May 5.. the route was manila-japan-detroit-raleigh.. my husband bought a one way ticket for me for $980.. everything went well with the flight, and detroit as POE was not bad at all.. no problems encountered at the POE.. they just took my fingerprints, checked the yellow packet and then stamped my passport and told me that i should be expecting my SSN and GC within two weeks.. well i received my SSN exactly one week after i arrived here in Raleigh.. now i'm just waiting for my GC..

good luck on the interview Kevin and Merlaine! it won't be long now and you'll finaly be together!

God bless to both of you!

My fiancee and I are flying Delta and going through Tokyo too. China Airlines gave the best deal last year, but it was not as good this year. I think that might be because this year I only looked for tickets 4 weeks in advance instead of last year's 6-week buffer.

To my surprise, there's no fee for checked bags either..who knew!! Grand total: $1006

The three airlines I have checked (Continental, Delta, and China Airlines) allow two checked bags without a fee for all international flights! As far as I know, Delta also gives free booze (not sure if it is beer only or if that also means hard liquor) on international flights! :)
