This is the most intelligent thing I have seen posted in this thread thus far.

It's absolutely mystifying to me that 70% of Arizona seem to be unaware there are actually ALREADY criminal laws in place that deal with criminals. Even brown ones.

Hint hint, they are called illegal immigrants because they are engaging in criminality by trespassing in the US, taking jobs and public benefits they aren't entitled to have. They are criminals, and should not have our empathy or support. I don't care what color they are, and I'm sick of White guilt being used as a weapon to avoid dealing with them like any other criminal would be. If brown people are the most vulnerable, it's because they have become identified as perpetrators and supporters of lawbreaking, rioting in the streets to demand that we give them a pass and our tax dollars.

I'm brown and Arab and Muslim, but I'm no more sympathetic to Muslim lawbreakers than I am to brown lawbreakers. I will never understand why people who only want the laws enforced are villified and those who break laws are deemed heroic, especially by people who went thru legal immigration. They, their employers and our government owe us an apology, and I'll be damned if I owe them an ounce of pity. Bad acts should have consequences. Time has come to pay and payback is a b!tch.

No, but 80% or so of the illegal immigrant population share one commonality - they're from south of the border. Why deny the fact that illegals are predominantly Hispanics?

What makes you think I deny it? I just don't see it as relevent, but then, I don't play race games. If most illegals in AZ are from south of the border, why should that mitigate the fact that they sneak in, demand entitlements, including an advantage over anyone trying to come here legally? Why should that stop AZ from doing what's best for legal residents? Latinos who break our immigration laws or who support law breakers should be ashamed, not celebrated or have excuses made for them.

A new groundbreaking theory was discovered on here today. Based on this theory, apparently since not all Latinos are illegal, we have to ignore those that are. That is, ignore the fact that the majority of illegal aliens are from Latin America.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

So there is hope for you after all. I will say this though, when you are not tossing over me, you can be objective.

Look, I am first in line when it comes to cracking down on illegal immigration. It's just that I think the approach we're taking is off track. Rather than targeting individuals, target the reason they're coming - the employment opportunities. That's what Gary was talking about in his posts and I agree that that would appear the most promising approach. Put businesses that exploit illegal migrants at taxpayer expense out of business and send the owners / managers up the river. Once the employment opportunities dry up,m the stream of illegal migrants will do the same. In fact, many of them will hike back.

I'm envisioning tens of thousands of Mexicans who want to walk back to Mexico because that's where the jobs are, but can't because we built a wall to trap them inside!

No arguement there, but politicians refuse to crack down on anyone except those who demand that they do their job and protect our borders and sovereignty. They seem to be unopposed to anyone who wants to export jobs or import workers who will accept lower wages. AZ isn't the bad guy here, Washington, DC is.

But, jobs aren't the only draw. Anchor babies, free education, language accomodations, food stamps, college tuition, etc. all contribute to the problem.

I can just see Glenn Beck shedding tears over Americans tearing down that precious wall to let them Mexicans out.

Yes, the birthright issue. I'd vote for a change to that as well. Dry up employment opportunities and ensure that children born here to anyone other than citizens and lawful residents are not automatically US citizens and I think we'd reduce the stream by 90%+. I think we can deal with the remaining 10%.
