lol. Okay well I honestly don't think any of the kids realised what they were doing and how people perceived it BUT I'm appalled that the parents/teachers thought that was appropriate for children of that age.

I'm note sure about the song choice either. They're KIDS for crying out loud. Surely there is another popular song (like Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus) that the little girls could dance too. No need for the burlesque type clothing either :S

I remember I attended a Talent show once and this 10 year-old came out doing a stage dance while she sang to the music of "Like a virgin"..(touched for the very first time).

The sad reality in life is, parents who see nothing wrong with this type of thing are... common today.

I see this as just the next step from a much more common problem. I think dressing toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, up to upperclassmen like little adults is where this starts.

Have you tried to buy a bathing suit for a 3-year-old girl? They look all cutsie and innocent with the disney princesses or dora on them, and little frills that go around the butt, but they are cut high at the legs. Nevermind that this is inappropriate for children of this age, but when you have a child like mine - thin and tall - it means the crotch is loose and hangs low enough that she might as well go bottomless.

And I refuse to put a bikini on her, no offense to those who do this with their children. Before I had a child, I thought that was cute, but I am not going to start with the sexualization, no matter how innocently I mean it, so young. I would have no problem with her going naked. It's that miniature adult thing that I don't want to start.
