They sent me back to Canada with request for evidence of ties to the country. I dug up everything I could, came back and tried again 3 days later and was let through without having to show anything at all. Never was refused again though they often asked about it. I wasn't trying to imply that was the reason for the AP, just annoyed that I'm still getting reprimanded for it 3 years later when it was a simple mistake.

But if it IS further proof of our relationship they want, why didn't they just ask? So yeah.. I may wonder forever.

Yeah I didn't think you were saying that - just pondering. Why didn't they just ask - that's a darn good question. Why can't he just say why he is holding your file - another good question.

I have no idea why this is all so cloak and dagger - I really don't.

I hope, whatever they are doing, they get your visa to you quickly.

Maybe the Interviewing Officer has only recently been appointed to Montreal and has come from a more demanding Consulate, so has not yet figured out how things work in Canada. It may be that he is still using the more 'stringent' code from a higher fraud posting - hence the AP - and will seek some 'advice' on what decision to make in this case. If he said a week, then it didn't sound like he felt he needed to do some deep digging - maybe just some 'consulting' with other Consulate staff about how Montreal handles things.

Good luck - I hope you hear something soon - or better yet, get your passport back with the visa in it.

You know, that almost makes sense, especially when you consider the other guy hanging on the door watching the process. Plus he asked if I had the letter of intent from my fiance, when it was right underneath the papers he was holding (I pointed it out to him). He didn't have the friendly, joking around attitude that I was expecting from reading other reviews, he was very business-like and critical.

Well I have a horrible memory for visual details and I'm bad at gauging age, but I would have said he was mid 30ish, with kind of light reddish brown hair, and no lazy eye that I noticed.. why?

Hey Kev

I actually have the same story of you. The border block me the access to the States for the same reason of you and send me back with a sheet of paper asking me to bring some paperwork....Then I show up again and I never had problem again. Yeah somes questions each time I across but they let me pass....How many time did you visit your boyfriend And for how long? I usually stay for 2 or 3 months and come back for 1 month.....Did the person who interview you at the consulate ask that? This is your case too??

Well, good luck, my interview is in 7 days, I gonna continue to come see what happening with you, I hope you are not gonna have problem !

Hi jennie,

Being sent back from the border is not a big deal, has happened to many here. If it's for something simple - like they wanted you to show stronger proof of ties to Canada.

They will ask you about it at the interview, all you have to do is tell the truth and you will be fine!

Good luck with your interview and let us know how it goes.

Papers didn't say anything, hence the quotations around "explained", one had the embassy contact info on it, the other said "your visa has been denied blah blah blah because of the following reason(s)" and the 221g was checked with the explanation "administrative processing" nothing else.

Jennie.. no he didn't ask for more details of my visits. Generally I would stay 2-3 days every weekend depending on my work schedule. Sometimes if I worked the weekend I would visit during the week. We were rarely apart longer than a week or two, the longest ever was 3 weeks and that was because the bridge I walk across was reconstructing the walkway and I was physically unable to cross. Longest stay I had was about 2 weeks (more than one occasion). He did ask about my longest stay.
