The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

Good point. I have never seen the tea-party act like that.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

But the Tea Party protesters are thinking bad thoughts. Damn them to HELL!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

They really do put some absolute rubbish in the news media. What kind of analysis is that supposed to be?

Why do these networks seem to spend more time trying to one up each other rather than report the news without going off on flights of hysteria and hyperbole?

Does anyone else wonder why the media always seems to act in a way that divides the population against itself? Whose interests does that serve?

Most journalists are leftists, far more liberal than the majority of the population. That is a proven fact. They play up the issues and people they agree with and play down and demean those they disagree with. That's why the less sophisticated among us believe the most ridiculous things about conservatives; they spend their time listening to and following liberals and leftists.

You see, this isn't really honest. You can't or aren't willing to frame an answer in a way that doesn't subscribe to the divide and conquer mentality. It's odd to me because the British media outlets aren't at war with each other in this way. There is bias, but not to the extent that actively panders to entrenched political groups on the wings.

And from what I've read, the political bent of journalists differs depending on the issue - left on social issues, right on economic ones.

The British media may be more nonpartisan (I don't know if I buy that BTW) because the UK has been a one party state for quite some time. It's not a totalitarian state but even when Blair was unpopular there was no viable alternative for voters. Of course, now that the Liberal-Democrats have a shot that may liven things up for more controversy.

Certainly today's face off with PM Brown referring to a Labour supporter as an awful bigot after forgetting about his microphone makes for good TV fodder. Who knew there were so many Eastern Europeans in the UK?

You have to admit the story has a point. On one hand people exercising (for once) their actual 1st amend right of free speech - the tea party - are made out to be crazies. Yet these low-lives running around like sort sort of Mexican street war is going on, are nowhere to be seen in other media outlets.

It's the equivalent of reporting (and hating on) a guy who let his grass grow too high, because he felt it helps the environment, and branding him an idiot. All while ignoring your like-minded mate burning his neighbors house down.

So, did the crime and murder rate go up or down in Australia, after the gummint banned law abiding citizens from arming themselves?

The divide and conquer mentality is a reality. It doesn't serve honesty to deny it. And it isn't partisan to point it out in meaningful detail, even if it's only one side that wishes to do so.

Even a liberal media figure from far left MSNBC admits this:

Mika Brzezinski: The Media Does Have A Liberal Bias — “That’s Why We Have Fox”

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski was a guest on Julie Menin’s Give & Take and she had a lot to say about the opinion media — that is to say, the media who pretend they’re not the opinion media. Said Brzezinski of the media establishment: “I will say what people aren’t saying: It’s got a liberal worldview.”

Brzezinski said that though “there are great people working at the networks,” who work hard to remain objective, they are mostly Democrats — and it shows. “The balance is not there within the objective mainstream media. It’s not. It is not.” Brzezinski drew a distinction between those well-intentioned, if biased, colleagues and the “cartoonish” figures on the right and the left of the cable news divide, saying that she and her colleagues at Morning Joe make an effort to avoid those one-dimensional characterizations: “We try to be transparent about who we are and where we come from, and what our worldview is and what our knowledge base is on every issue. And we are not trying to be anything more than what we are. And that is extremely honest.”

When asked by host Julie Menin if liberal bias was “seeping into the coverage” Brzezinski said emphatically that yes, it was, and suggested that journalists should declare their political affiliation — and who they voted for in the last election. “Come on, are you telling me that a reporter for a great news organization does not have opinions?” said Brzezinski. “Every reporter, every anchor, every human being that is a personality on television has opinions, and has a worldview and has a slant.” Brzezinski said that audiences would appreciation the media rejecting the pretense of objectivity and declaring bias, saying “We have [to] know that the viewer’s smart about that, and if you are fair and you are looking for the truth, you can be trusted. And you’ve got to be honest.

“The reason why we’ve got these extremes is a reaction to the “objective” mainstream media, that is so not objective when you have most of them being Democrats, or liberals, running it. That’s why we have Fox. Because it wasn’t honest. And because there was a reaction out there to this.”

Definitely went down. Though, they don't have illegals running rampant. If they did, the police would be provided with the authority and tools needed to nip it in the butt. That's how we roll in the first world.
