Slightly more Americans now say the United States makes better-quality vehicles than Asia does, with 38 percent saying U.S. cars are best and 33 percent preferring autos made by Asian companies, according to an Associated Press-GfK Poll.

...

When the same question was asked in a December 2006 AP-AOL poll, 46 percent said Asian countries made superior cars, while just 29 percent preferred American vehicles, reflecting a perception of U.S. automotive inferiority that began taking hold about three decades ago.

...

Those likeliest to say Asian-made autos are superior included men, the better educated and residents of Western states. U.S. cars were a strong preference for those age 50 and up and rural residents.

Ha, don't drive a truck....

I drive a Dodge Neon (yes, one of those things :bonk: ). Though I'll probably buy a Tacoma or Tundra next year after this car is paid off.

I'm guessing the results are totally different after the auto bailout, ya?

Buy American !!! :D (Pardon, does buying a used Volvo in USA qualify as 'buying American' ? )

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Well, if you're buying it used, you're buying it from an American. Your money is staying in America. So I'd call that a yup.

Almost. Ford is selling it off. Almost sold it to a Chinese Company, but that fell through.

And you call yourself a Texan, shame on you. I drive a Tahoe, built with pride in Arlington, Texas, USA.Chevrolet, they are building a better way to see the USA.

When did you take out Japanese citizenship? Do you also bow to the Emperor? At least Obama drives a Ford.

The Tundra is built exclusively in San Antonio. The "Texas Edition" Tundras are awesome!

First off: konichiwa

Second: Tokyo is a bad #### place as well as the rest of Japan. I'd much rather the money be going there than some other Asian country.

Either way, that's Americans building the trucks. So the more you buy, the more they're employed! :)

If you buy American all the industries that also supply parts to the auto manufacturers benefit. A TOY-ota plant that employs 2,000 people or all the people who supply parts to the Arlington Assembly Plant which is at least 20,000 people.

BTW, I don't speak Japanese, I speak American so who gives a ** how it's spelled they don't use a latin script so we are only using transliterations in any event.
