Hello everyone, I am in the process of filing my N-400 and my question is about my son who is 6 yrs old. I came with him from the Philippines three years ago and we received our GREEN Card July 13,2007. We both have A#.

My question is ,do I file a separate N-400 for him and send a separate fee? In one of the question on N-400, it asked for children living with me and I put his name, also he is my dependant on our Income Tax Return for the past 3 yrs.

Thank you so much

No, your child will get the citizenship as soon as you naturalize, don't send another N400 or fees.

Hopefully you removed conditions for you/him or got 10 year GCs for both of you?

I agree,, don't waste your money,, on the n400,,, He will get derivative status (Citizenship) from you. Just file for a US Passport for him once you get your naturalization document. That will be his proof of US Citizenship.

Regards,

I like to call it tailgating the biological immigrant parent. Step daughter got to do that with the removal of conditions, but had to just pay the additional 80 bucks for her biometrics. She turned 18 just before my wife got her certificate, so no luck there.

Also some kind of tailgating to get a US passport for the kid birth certificate to prove his/her relationship to you, maybe even divorce papers if from a previous marriage to show a link to you with the moms name change due to the present marriage along with the certificate of marriage, plus the parents USC certificate.

If you have an extra 400 bucks laying around, child can get their own certificate by filing a N-600, not necessary, but at least it will be his/her own for the long time the child will be living here.
