My husband and I arrived in Newark yesterday. His dad picked us up from EWR. We stayed in his sister's place in Secaucus last night.

I've finally met my family-in-law. They are so Indian. :D My two-year-old niece-in-law speaks Manak Hindi more than English. My MIL said that my husband learned English in school after they moved to NY when he was three. Now we're in Allentown in his parents' house. Everybody has been curious to meet me. I am my husband's first wife and he got married at 37.

Anyway, Arbind took me to the Empire State Building this afternoon. My experience from the Penn Station to the ESB has made me love California even more. It's so different walking on the streets of New York. I wouldn't want to live in NY. Now I understand why people say that there are not many cities on the planet like Santa Monica.

I am just sayin'...

2 whole days? fuсk that. 4-5 hours and i'm ready to hop on the NEC and come back to my characterless non-descript burb.

2 days is enough for the MOMA or the Met, a bit of shopping and dining, and a Broadway show. Then it's get out of town time.

I guess when you live far away you feel the need to cram all that in to a single visit. I can dig it.

I just go out with my peeps. I get really drunk because I don't have to drive anywhere. I love public transport. I miss living in London.

I got really hammered in NY one time on a biztrip. I was with Reuters at the time, this was about 10 years ago. We went out to dinner, about 20 of us, and my boss's boss was paying for everything. Afterward we went to a few expensive clubs that serve all that high end vodka cosmo sh!t. I never drink that stuff, but as I said, I wasn't paying so it was fun to go along. That was probably the most expensive drunk I've ever been on. The meetings the next morning were NOT fun. :dead:

I pretty much do the same thing when I'm there. I go out with people who like blowing money even more than I do. Always a fun time. Thankfully I never have meetings.

If you want my wallet that badly all you have to do is ask. There are some TTC subway tokens, 4 moldy Lifesavers, and a condom from 1987. They're all yours, bud.

Now I understand why people say that there are not many cities on the planet like Santa Monica.

yeah, San Francisco and greater area is the same way... after being in CA for 12 years, i'm still amazed at how everything grass... shrubs.. flowers.. trees.. gardens.. yards.. courtyards are maintained. after being away for any extended time, it is always a pleasure to return to the beauty that is found in few places other than right here at home.
