This is the type of netbook I want rather than some large iphone. At the end of the day, both need to be carried in a bag yet one provides greater functionality and standby while the other does not. One runs an actual OS while the other does not. One plays full HD while the other does not.

Forget to add for only $399. Plus it has a useful and much preferred keyboard built in. Therefore, can sit upright on your lap or desk.

But but but, it's not apple, so you will get virus and malware, and all sorts of bad stuff that apple is immune to.

Funny people say that because in four years I have not had one virus or malware on Vista or 7. I do automatically install updates, have a virus program and use firefox with script block.

Windows 7 (64 bit edition) is annoying, only because half the programs out there have limited or no compatibility with it. It'll take some time to for software companies to adjust I suppose. I have gotten malware on my computer before, but that comes with the territory I suppose when you undertake some online activities :innocent: They are by and large easy enough to clear up though. Kaspersky along with a few free utilities (malwarebytes, ccleaner and hitmanpro) and you can eliminate most threats.

Better yet, run a 64 bit version of firefox and you will get zero malware.

Ever since switching to 64 bit I honestly have not have one issue with viruses.

Tablets that basically run as laptops have been around for 7 years or so. But there is a reason why they never caught on. It used a full desktop OS and was never optimized for touch interface, and often cost even more than regular laptops.

I think the iPad despite a few shortcomings will be successful.

0ooo, me too.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I handle that problem with VMWare. I run my normal browser on my standard Ubuntu desktop. And I run my "questionable" activities in a VMWare appliance. If it catches any malware goodies, I don't care, since I delete the entire appliance and start from a clean copy each time I launch.
